Humming birds.

I am wondering when you usually take down your hummingbird feeders. I have 2 very active feeders, but I have not seen the hummers in over a week. Are they gone for the season or are they somewhere else and will be back? This is my first year for them. I don't want them to be looking for the feeder yet I don't want to encourage them to stay past their time either.

I suggest you leave them up thru September...just in case there are any stragglers or those needing to bulk up.

I take mine down when my dahlias are completely gone- usually the end of Sept

I live approx. 450-500 miles to the south of you. They may be packing up about now to head south for the winter.

We feed the hummingbirds from Saint Patrick's day (mar. 17th) through Oct. 1st although the latest I have ever seen a humming bird at my feeder is Sept. 24th- my birthday- what's that about?

Every year for 7 years straight I have seen my firdst one of the season on march 17th- what is THAT about too?!?

I saw a male at the back feeder yesterday. He didn't stay very long and when he left he left. I have really enjoyed these little friends. I'll be looking forward to seeing them again when next year rolls around.

A friend mentioned that hummers were gone around here. I had seen them last week, but I haven't seen one since Sunday.

Hi! New to this thread, but I saw one on Monday morning. I don't have a feeder, just trumpet flower and some foxglove left and it was all over the both plants. This is the first year I've even seen them in my backyard. We are about 15 miles outside of Philly.

We just had one on Sunday. Very exciting since it a rare siting here in Hunterdon County cross from New Hope PA
