Ok so what am I mising? What is the difference between the cool mist ones and a regular one. We use one in my sons room every night which is a regular one but it needs to be replaced and all I can find are the cool mist ones?

I really dont want to have to buy one and have it not be what I am looking for.

TIA ;)

Hi. My DD needs a warm mist humidifier and I get them at my local CVS or Walgreens. They are cost around $18. Just the basic one. No filter needed for her. But, they do carry pricier ones if you require a filter. Maybe Walmart would have them as well. Hope that helps!

p.s. cool mist humidifiers are good for kids with asthma, or during the summer. warm mist ones are good for kids who's throats get dry with the heat in the house at night, or when they are sick. humidity makes them breathe better while they sleep.

Thanks! We use it for our sons excema. It was giving to us years ago when our first DD was born so I never had to shop for one before andevery store I went to yesterday was out of warm and only had cool.

Thanks again :goodvibes

Yes, there is a risk of a steam burn. The stuff coming out of those humidifiers is quite hot. I just needed to get one anyway, as my DD does not do well with the dry heat while she sleeps. I tried the cool mist ones first, and it just didn't do the job. She would end up with a honking cough a lot. These days, not so much as she is getting older.

But, for sure, there is that risk. I guess they sell them anyway. Thank goodness!

I thought hot steam humidifiers were no longer marketed for children due to the danger to children from steam burns. You would not want to place one in a child's room for safety reasons.

It's only on when he sleeps and it is on the other side of the room while he is in his crib. Never on when hes out.

Its either that or he gets so dry and itches then bleeds. I have blood stains on all of his bedding from his itching.

Thank you for the concern though :)

This winter I bought a Vicks cool mist humidifier. It worked well for me. The air was very dry with the heat and I have sinus issues.

I also believe there's a higher chance of bacteria building up in the warm air humidifiers.
