Can anyone tell me about hulu plus? Is it worth it, to potentially get rid of cable and just watch tv shows off of this? How soon does a tv show become available for viewing? Thanks

We have used Hulu Plus over cable for about a year now. We are able to watch "most" all the shows we did with cable plus lots more. The shows are usually available the day after they air. For the $7.99 a month it is well worth the savings and with Hulu Plus and Netfix streaming we never miss cable!

My girls love the Food Network and Dh loves shows like Pawn Stars and American Pickers. Do you remember if you get these channels?

I don't have a clue about HuluPlus, but I do know that Pawn Stars and American Pickers are on Netflix. I will have to check out HuluPlus.

Both Pawn Stars and American Pickers are on Hulu Plus, as is the Food Network but not "all" of the programs offered on the Food Network channel.

I would strongly suggest that you try out a free trial of HuluPlus before canceling your cable. If you go to the Hulu.com homepage (not the Huluplus.com homepage) and like Huluplus on Facebook then you can get a free one month trial. This is what we did. We were very underwhelmed with them and decided not to go that route. It is mostly independent/anime/foreign stuff that we were not interested in. There was very little on the actual network channels. This is just our opinion based on our experience. I know that some people love it and that is why we gave it a shot.

Thanks for the suggestion to get the free month. I will do just that to see if I really like it. I am just getting really tired of the expense of cable. We also have Netflix so between the two I am hoping that will be enough. We most likely will still have basic cable just not the extended and DVR, unless I can convince the hubby to get rid of it.

This is what we did (free trial) and found that it's not great. I thought part of huluplus was less commercials. I've been watching Master Chef and there are about 1-2 minutes of commercials at EACH commercial break. I'll keep it for my 1 month trial to finish this season of Master Chef, to watch the 2 seasons of Hell's Kitchen that I missed, and will be getting cable back when I move (in about 2-3 weeks) and will be cancelling both HuluPlus and Netflix streaming.

We like HuluPlus and it is worth it to keep for us for the most part.

We dropped Directv when it went up over $100/mo but we knew we would miss the DVR as we almost never watch live TV. So, HuluPlus is great. We can watch most shows through the Roku Box using HuluPlus whenever we want.

If they could get CBS shows it would make it almost perfect.

I don't find HP to have that many commercials. 1-2 min. at most, compared to about 7 minutes on live TV.

I have Hulu+ and am thinking of cancelling. I use it through ROKU, however you cannot watch many, many shows offered by Hulu+ through ROKU. You have to watch them on your computer.
