Hi guys, if there are any spare hugs going at the moment I could do with them.

My mom was going to hospital to see the dermatolagist about a small patch or skin that had gone a bit funny on her face, she thought that it might have been eczma (sp??) or something like that, they have told her that it is a rodent ulcer which is a form of skin cancer, fortunatley they have said that this type of tumor is not like other cancers and cannot spread to other areas of the body so thankfully she will be ok. They have taken samples of the tissue and she should get the results next week but the doctor said that he is 95% sure that that it what it is. They will have to cut it all out and corterise the area, she will have a scar but that is a small price to pay.

When she told me I was so shocked and scared that I couldn't help getting upset. I am so close to my mom and it came as such a shock that one minute you are going along and having a good day and the next minute someone close to you is telling you that they have a cancerous tumor.

Mom has a stitch where they have cut her and a big patch over it that she has to leave on for 2 days, and the skin looks swollen. I am going to take her shopping tomorrow and treat her to something nice I think.

Thanks for listening you guys.

Gems - sorry to hear about your mum, but don't worry, she will be fine. My mum also had two of these on her face and was cured in no time at all and only had one tiny scar.

My mum was a sun worshipper and the consultant said this was how they had arrived on her face in the first place, so remember everyone to use that sunscreen.

My mum had had her "lumps" for years and never done anything about them . . . until she went to see a dermatologist about the condition of her nails (she was just coming out the otherside of the 'change' at the time), but when she saw the consultant dermatologist he wasn't interested in her nails at all, but the two lumps on her face. She had them cut out (one was very close to her eye). then had radiography for a few weeks.

Enjoy your shopping trip - how nice to treat your mum :flower1:

Lots of love for your MUm then :flower1: A reminder to cherish her.I hope it the removal goes well,I'm sure it will :D

So sorry to hear the news about your mum. Luckily it seems to have been caught in time.

Sending lots and lots of :grouphug: to you and your mum.

Please keep us posted and let us know how she is doing.

thanks you guys! Mom is feeling better today, her face is sore but she is ok in herself, I think I am more worried than she is!
I will keep you posted on what's going on.

Thanks again for all your support, I am so glad that I have the DIS to air my problems on!

Do lwt us know how she gets on Gem. Did you take her shopping today? :)

Kaylee,
Yes we went shopping to Birmingham, Mom has wanted some posh wellingtons for when she walks the dogs over the park so we got her those, they are black with pink and green polka dots! She is mad!!

She rang the local Bupa hospital yesterday and got an appointment to see the detmatologist there on Tuesday to get the patch removed.

Some people are so rude though, while we were out there were three people that asked what she had done to her face ( as she has to wear a bandage) - what's it got to do with them!!

Those boots sound gorgeous Gem - I hope they cheered your mum up! Hope all goes well on Tuesday.
