My family is trying for the first time to have ALL of us go on a big family vacation. We all think it is going to be wonderful if we can work it out. There will be 6 adults (me, my wife, my brother, his wife, our father and mother) and 6 children (my 4 girls 10,8,8,5, his two boys 11, 7). I was wondering where the best place to stay would be. I am leaning towards the Boardwalk Villas just because of the Stormalong Bay area for he kids. Can people with large groups give me a little advice. Thanks!

We are headed to disney in december. There will be 7 adults and 3 kids. We are staying at Port Orleans French Quarter. I have heard its a pretty quiet place which we figured would be good for the older people. They have a dragon slide which will be good for the kids. Also we can go next door to Port Orleans and use there pools as well.
The buses stop first at french quarter to pick up and drop off first so we will always get a seat. They also have a 15 minute boat ride to downtown that seems like a nice change from the buses. Its quiet but its going to be right up our alley.
I called the disney line and reserved the same package for three diffrent rooms for my entire family so that everyone wouldnt have to call individually. They where very helpful with excellent quest service. My family members only had to call to pay the 200 deposit which was easy.
Good luck!:yay:

Stormalong Bay is not at the Boardwalk Villas it's over at the Beach Club Villas.

Stormalong Bay is at the Beach Club.
Before you book this family vacation, call a family meeting to discuss the expectations everyone has. Things like:

Will we eat certain meals together?
Will there be time for each family to spend on their own?
What will be our touring style?
How will we book the trip?
Who will pay for what?
Are we going to try to do all the parks as a group?
How many park days?
How much leisure time does everyone want?
Will we go to the parks early in the morning?
This is just a few of the things you need to discuss to avoid major strife once you get to the world. Everyone has different expectations of vacations. Vacations can bring out the best or worst in a family with very little middle ground.
Good Luck, I hope you have a wonderful trip!

I think staying at the villas...really, any of the villas is a good choice. There is more room to relax and chat together instead of sitting on beds. Also, units with full kitchens really come in handy for quick meals and snacks. We order groceries from gardengrocer.com and have had excellent service.

Just an fyi, Storm a long Bay is a great pool, but if you/dw or your brother/sil are the type that need to keep an eye on kids at all times, that huge spread out pool will make you crazy.

DVCJen had some great advice...you don't want to find out everyone's expectations are different when you arrive at Disney! Happy planning.
