HUGE CROWDS??? Walt Disney World Triathlon Weekend

Hi. We were there for one of these sporting events one year, and our resort went from a ghost town to filled and turning them away in ONE DAY! It was HORRIBLE, and we left early that week. I dont remember the actual event name, (I'm not a sports fan) but it supposedly drew over 100,000 people into the park for the week (according to a couple CMs).
My question is WILL THIS EVENT I NAMED IN THE SUBJECT LINE BRING IN HUGE CROWDS?

we were in Epcot last year in September and there was some sort of race going on where they had half of the park roped off all around future world and world showcase. We didn't know what was going on (event wise) but there were obviously people running in this event and people were there cheering them on. There was not an increase in crowds at all. It was a little harder to navigate yourself around where they had roped off for the runners, but I didn't notice that the crowds were any higher at that park that day. Again, I don't know if this was the actual triathalon, but it was definitely a run...
