Hubby needs help getting excited...

Our trip is planned for 12/3 to 12/11. DH has never been to WDW or the Orlando area. Although we are doing more than WDW (Universal, Sea World, etc.), DH is not overly excited about going. He sees this as a vacation that is nothing but little kid stuff, which is so not true.

So I want to do something to get him in the magic before we go.

I am getting ready to ship a package from Mickey to our house with a few things for DD's to help them get excited about the trip. I was thinking of adding soemthing for DH, but not sure what. I was thinking maybe golf balls with Mickey on them...but does anyone know where I can get them? Or does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks so much!

I don't have a lot of help to offer. Just wanted you to know that I spit coffee on my computer screen when I read the title of your thread.

:earseek:

I'm not sure where you would get the Mickey golf balls. You can probably call Disney Merchandise and they will have them.

But just wanted to note...We will be at CBR also. 12/4-12/9. So maybe we'll see you around.

You might even try CBR, they may have something in their gift shop that would do.

Also, DH never gets that excited about going. However, when we get there he always has a blast. And I know that this time will be even better because of DD.

You have won 1/2 the battle, because at least he has agreed to go. And I'll bet that once he gets there with you and the kids, he'll have a blast as well.

Good Luck!!

GEM ~ I didn't even think of what it sounded like when I wrote it! I can just imagine the reaction I will get from it:)

Cailin'sMom~ Thanks for the words of advice. I know he will get more excited when we get there.

The first time I went my parents took me and my brother...I was 20, he was 17. My dad mainly did it because my mom wanted to, but I think he had more fun than anyone! That trip, my first DD was 2, and this will be her third trip back, all because my dad pushes for it!

I wanted to tell you how much fun you will have with your DD. When we went on that first trip, I almost cried the entire character breakfast with Pooh. She was so cute, she didn't care about eating and kept trying to hand a full plate of food to the waitress so she could go see Pooh (I learned not to say we would go see Pooh after she was done eating, but when everyone was done eating:)

I hope you have a great trip!

cl1067: I can only imagine how much fun we will have. DH is actually starting to get a little excited. DD actually requests to watch the WDW training video. She also gets excited about the Travel Channel specials. She squeals and tells everyone that we are going to DisneyWorld to see Mickey Mouse.

I plan to take a million pictures and videotape everything.

Maybe we could invent some Disney Viagra for those DH in our lives who don't get so excited about DW! He he he!

My DH is the same way! The kids and I get excited way before the trip is here...DH enjoys himself well enough once we are there, but does not go goo goo the way we do!

For a second there, I wasn't sure if I was on the "Disney for Families" board.

Perhaps you could tell him that all "his dreams will come true"......start "accidentally on purpose" leaving out things you are going to be taking - new silky things, mention that you think it would be nice to have some sparkling wine, strawberries and whipped cream on your first night.....;)...then buy him some new Mickey boxers from the Disney Store and his own personal refillable mug for the parks. I'm sure he'll soon be getting pretty excited. Just hope he'll be able to contain himself till he get's there!:teeth:

lol - I just ordered DH his Disney Viagara today!

We just got back from DH's first trip to WDW - he was NOT excited at all, but I started our trip at Epcot. Where he said, "Hey, you didn't tell me I could get a margarita and walk around with it!". I also planned our meals carefully, keeping in mind what he likes. We started with Akershus, went to V&A's the second night, and Ohana our third night. He had a great time, way better than he expected!

And, most importantly, he truly, truly enjoyed watching our 14-month-old DS take everything in! Anything I tried to get him excited (ha!) before the trip would have been pointless, though.

Dh wasn't really excited until I signed him up for the fishing exscursion!! Then he was totally on board. Anything extra you could sing him up for that he likes? Golf, Race cars, fishing, swimming with the dolphins? I would go with something like that!

Oh! Now I do have a real suggestion. I always plan something really special for DH that I know he will enjoy. Some of the things I have signed him up for on past trips -

The Segway Tour at Epcot
The Dolphins In Depth Tour at Epcot
The Steam Train Tour at the Magic Kingdom
The Backstage Safari at the Animal Kingdom
Lunch with and Imagineer

Also, things like

a massage at the Wilderness Lodge health club
renting Water Mice
Illuminations cruise
a long trip to the Virgin Megastore
an informal "drink around the world" tour at World Showcase

I always try to make sure there are a few special things each trip that I know he will love.

And I always put together a little goodie bag for him for the plane ride or drive down. I like to include a fun Disney baseball cap, magizines and a few new CDs, Altoids (he's addicted), and maybe a few other fun little things.

Someone else on the boards was having the same problem with their dh. A suggestion came about that people who were going soon would mail a postcard from the WDW. It sounded like a great idea to me. i would love to do this for my dh. The only thing I think he is more excited about the trip than I am.

Me too!

I wanted to say Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions and for laughing with me! I am totally going to start looking for Disney Viagra!!! :jumping1:

I've done what others have suggested, I've picked things for DH that I knew he would think were really cool and special. On our first trip he was a bit nervous because he was meeting my entire family (beyond my parents, he knew them). We planned a day to rent a convertible; we drove to Daytona Int'l Raceway and did the tour there, then went down to the Space Center. I planned special meals I knew he would love, Teppanyaki and such... He had such a great time we went back the next year, and the year after that we did a trip where we went on the Fairy Tale Weddings tour, the next year got married there. Now he asks me when are we going back!
