Hubby got a Camera & I got Christmas!!! 51 Chapters Completed!! 926 Pics!

I love the tiny decorations. Can you imagine the steady hands needed for that job?

I know.....tiny poinsettias in the windows, little garlands on the trees, little wreaths hung on the doors......amazing to see!!

Chapter Thirty One~~ I'm Hungry as a Bear!!

Since I was close to Critter Country, I wanted to try the new & improved Hungry Bear Restaurant. I've always loved this restaurant, but with the new menu, I've wanted to get there to try it!!! I knew exactly what I wanted to try.......the Fried Green Tomato Sandwich with the sweet potato fries & the Lemon Bumblebee Cupcake!!!!

Oh my goodness.....the sandwich is excellent!!! Here's the description of the sandwich from allears.net : cornmeal crusted fried green tomatoes layered with two slices of fresh heirloom tomatoes, topped with havarti, remoulade, jicama-mango slaw and served on a multi-grain roll

It's a huge sandwich & I could only get through one half....so this is definitely a meal that can be shared!! The sweet potato fries were good, nothing outstanding.....but good.

Now, moving on to the cupcake. The cake was lemony & moist. Very good.....but that frosting is so thick & dense.....ICK!! Not a fan of the frosting......I gagged a little just thinking about it!!

After enjoying my lunch by the riverside, it was time to get back to Main Street so I could check in for the tour. I decided to catch the train in NOS & ride it around. As I waited for the train, I took some pics of the station area.

Next chapter will be the Holiday Tour!!

Wow!! I love it so far. Too bad that the Hungry Bear changed :sad2:

They still have burgers & chicken sandwiches like before......they've just added some new items. I guess the other big change was going from regular fries to sweet potato fries.

Have you eaten there since they changed??? I thought it was very good....even better than before!!

They really needed the change. When we ate there in 2010 it was pretty bad. Bad enough that although it had been a favorite of my kids they never wanted to go again that trip.

Well I tell you that fried green tomato sandwich is worth going up there to try.......it was so good!! Filling, but good! :cool1:

I really want to try it but as you said it is a lot of food and Scotty would never eat it. Sad but true.:sad2:

I am sorry you had to be around quests that drank to much :(. I know I would be disappointed if the grand kids were to see such goings on. A man pushing a woman around is nothing i want to see --- ever. Why people think being on vacation lets them act stupid I dont understand. LOL I would not want to spend my Disney time drinking-- then recovering :).

I love all the pictures. Wish I could decorate like disney. It is all so beautiful.

That sandwich looked so good. You did send me one overnight fedx right LOL. Keep the tr coming

Patty

Bummer!!! Is he not a fan of tomatoes? I thought all guys like fried anything.......lol :rotfl:

No, tomatoes are too close to a vegetable for him. :rotfl:

I don't get it either. Although we have had an adult beverage in DTD and just not gone back into the parks after we had them.

As far as someone pushing his partner around it is a good thing Scotty has never witnessed something like that. He would step in and it wouldn't be pretty.

I try not to let it ruin my day....just don't think it belongs there.

Maybe we could win a team of Disney makeover artists to come decorate our home for one Christmas....that would be sooooooo cool!!!!!

What?? You didn't get the sandwich??? Those darned ol' fed ex drivers....must have eaten your sandwich!!! :lmao:

No, tomatoes are too close to a vegetable for him. :rotfl:

Tomatoes are a fruit!!!! :rotfl2: Besides once it's fried it doesn't matter what's under the batter....it's fried goodness!! :rotfl:

I had a drink at the Cove Bar & stayed in the park......but I wasn't tipsy or drunk nor did I feel the need to continue drinking. That's the difference. Its ok to have a drink while at the park, but don't drink to get drunk......and then share your lunatic behaviors......lol :sad2:

Or toss it over the fence. I know wrong Co. but couldn't help myself. Next is not meant to be a slame-- so no flames I know delivery co. are very busy during rush times like the last few weeks. I just wish they would ring the door bell and wait a couple of mins. LOL we get the door bell ring then see the delivery truck driving up road. Do they have one of those arms that can reach 50 feet so as to put delivery on porch--while ringing bell-- then as they pull the arm back -- he/she is driving up the road. Must take all of 3 sec LOL. But no matter I would not want their job and most do a very great job doing what they do :).

Michele-- tell your husband just one bite or no dessert LOL --- You know there are recipes that use spinach, squash, and other vege in great tasting cookies, brownies, cakes, etc. I would not do that with out telling him but maybe he would eat vege, if they were in a dessert? You never know. :)

The delivery people are so busy, I'm just happy they at least ring the doorbell before disappearing....otherwise I'd never known they were there......lol

No I haven't. What are you guys doing for Christmas?

Well.......we're having 3 Christmases.....not because we want to but because of financial needs. We're still reeling from moving & we haven't seen our deposit back yet....so unfortunately, we are having to split up our holiday. Santa is most definitely coming tonight, so the kids will have stockings & Santa gifts to open tomorrow.

On Tuesday, my oldest & his fiance will be here for our 2nd Christmas. I made sure I had their gifts because they don't live in town.....so we'll exchange gifts with them Tuesday night.

Then since Mike gets paid on Thursday & I get my adoption assistance money at the end of next week......we'll buy the gifts to exchange & do it on New Years Eve.

I was feeling horrible having to do that.....but I think the kids are actually going to come out better on gifts & fun by doing it this way. Might make it a tradition.....lol (besides I should be able to find some good buys after Christmas!!!)

I'll probably get on later to do a little more Trip Report.......but if I don't....or you don't get back on to read................

MERRY CHRISTMAS FRIENDS!!! :santa: I HOPE SANTA TREATS YOU NICELY & YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY MAKE YOU SMILE FROM THE INSIDE OUT!!

Merry Early Christmas Laurie!!! What are the kids asking for?

Thanx Kaitlin!! :santa: Well Anthony wants an Ipod Touch but he's dreaming!! There's no way I'd spend that much money on a 10 yr old that doesn't take care of dollar toys....... :rotfl2: He'll be happy with anything he gets but he does like to dream big!

Addy wants anything girly. The last thing she asked for was a barbie styling head.....so she is getting one of those. princess:

Anything in particular that you're wishing for this year??

Chapter Thirty Two~~Holiday Tour Time!!

One of the main things I had planned for this trip was doing this tour. I figured it would be a great way to take in all the special things Disneyland offers during the holiday season. You also get to board Haunted Mansion Holiday & It's a Small World Holiday with no wait. The end of the tour gives you front row seats (actual chairs to sit in) for the Christmas Fantasy Parade as you enjoy your complimentary holiday mug of hot cocoa & the famous gingerbread man cookie. I knew this would be the best way to take in all those holiday things!!

I checked in at the Guided Tour Office to the left of City Hall on Main Street. I was greeted by smiling CM's who gave me my tour tag & told me I'd be in group 3.

717.jpg

You are asked to wait in the tour garden area until your guide gathers you.

715.jpg

714.jpg

716.jpg

Group one gathers & receives their headphones & receiver & start on their way, followed by group two. Group three seemed to be quite small.......the tours started at 3pm, but it was getting close to 3:25 before we were preparing to leave on the tour. Our group (one very large family) kept straggling in & so we waited for 3 that were running late. I was a bit annoyed that we had to wait.....the rest of us were on time for our check-in......but I'll get over it........

Our Tour Guide was Allison, a sweet, young girl who talks super quietly. I understand Disney needing to go to the headphone/receiver set up.....but I can't wear headphones so it makes it really hard to get all the information they're sharing. Something about the vibration or buzzing that drives my ears nutty when I wear them. So I hang them around my neck & turn it up on full volume but she was super mega-mega quiet, so I really struggled. I tried to stay right up by her so I could hear, otherwise I'd lift one side up & put it near my ear if I thought it was super important to hear. Its unfortunate I can't enjoy all the tours have to offer, but I get quite a bit out of them any ways.

718.jpg

She shared about Walt's love for the holidays & how tradition has his lamp in the apartment over the Fire Station being replaced by a Christmas tree every year.

We learned all about the 60 foot Christmas tree that stands prominently over Main St. It has 4800 LED lights & 2000 ornaments. This tree used to be a live tree, but somewhere along the line they noticed the top of the tree had caught fire & after that, Disneyland went to the artificial kind. (I didn't catch the year & all the details due to not being able to hear).

We next made our way to the doorway of Dr Benjamin Silverstein & were shown the mezuzah to indicate that he's a practicing jew.

Our next stop was the Candy Palace to get a delicious sample of either the pumpkin fudge or the peppermint fudge. I chose the peppermint fudge......delicious!!

721.jpg

Today the candy being made was Rocky Road.

719.jpg

720.jpg

We headed towards the castle that is covered in snow capped roofs & icicles & 300,000 (?) LED lights. As we were going down the path by Snow White's Grotto to the right of the castle.....look who was greeting guests!

722.jpg

We made our way through Fantasyland & made a stop at the Big Thunder Ranch. To be honest, I don't have a clue what she talked about here.....the headphones were really bugging me, so I just took a picture instead of listening.

723.jpg

Our next stop was in New Orlean's Square. This gave me an opportunity to get a few more pictures.

724.jpg

725.jpg

726.jpg

This was above the entry into the Court of Angels....funny how I'd never noticed it before.

727.jpg

728.jpg

729.jpg

We headed towards the Haunted Mansion Holiday & we stopped to gather everyone up. Our group went from 4yrs to a couple in their 70's. So we didn't always stay together too good....lol

730.jpg

A Nightmare will be next!!
