My husband can't get off of work for our Feb 15th trip to Hilton Head, I have reserved a room for us, his parents, and sister and her husband. 14 2007-2008 pts, 150 2008 pts and 1 from our Sept UY 2009 pts. I can't figure out the best to do can I change this ressie for a new date or location ? Cancel ? Bank ? Help ! I don't want to lose anything - this was our 1st DVC trip ?

You are still more than 31 days out, so you can move your reservation without penalty. It sounds like you have Sept points, so your 2007 and borrowed 2009 points won't expire until Aug 31, 2008. And you have time to bank your points. My suggestion is to find another date that works for you at either HHI or Disney before Aug 31 and book a new reservation (assuming you can't make your existing reservation work). If it requires fewer points, bank the extra 2008 points. If you can't go any time before Aug 31, you will loose the 15 points (14 2007 which I assume were banked into this year and the 1 borrowed 2009 point). In this case, you could try to rent the points since you have some time to do so, but you may have to add some of your 2008 points to it to make enough points to get a reservation. If you do decide to rent, do it before you bank any points.

Do what I do - Go without him? :rotfl: No just kidding - decide quickly so you don't lose your points.

We do go without my DH a lot d/t my schedule being so much more flexible. It's kind of fun to travel without him - eventhough we always say wish Dad was here.

Something to consider - how will your in-laws feel about you canceling or changing the dates for the trip? If this was their planned "vacation" they might be a little miffed if you decide to change all the plans. I mention this because there are occasional posts regarding inconsiderate "invitees" who say yes to a free trip to Disney then back out at the last minute, leaving the DVC owner left holding the bag on points they didn't need to tie up. This could be a reverse situation where someone has taken off of work and made plans only to have the rug pulled out from under them. Is there an option for just your in-laws to go and you can cancel your portion of the trip? Just something to think about if you haven't already...

I know my sis in law and mother in law we're not super excited anyway.
I know other people go without their husbands and that would be my first thought. I think he would get mad and besides if it was my family that would be one thing but go with his family ....i dunno
I also work in a school so I have either Feb. break or April break- which flights are crazy expensive. That is why we were going to HH- so we can drive. Still don't know, maybe wait till June
