How long will these take at rope drop on a Saturday (April 9, 2016)? Which one should I hit first for a party of 2. Not doing single rider. Thanks!

Every single time, and there have been many, we head straight for RnR, then immediately on to ToT, and the wait is minimal for each. My best estimate is that you will certainly be done by 9:45, probably closer to 9:30, especially since that's the best park for that day according to Josh at easywdw. So many will be headed to TSMM, then to RnR and ToT, so you will be ahead of them. :P

OP I'm glad you asked that question. We're going in May and planning on doing the same as you. Willing to ride single if we have to but would rather not.

Single rider isn't always open at RD for RnR. I have ridden it 2-3x at RD & then used my FP (9:15-10:15) at ToT.

We have fast pass 9:30-10:30 for toy story. Hoping my husband and older daughter can get these both in before that. Otherwise we have fast pass for tower of terror later in the day but don't want to stay that late.

I have never found single rider to be an advantage at RnR. You will almost always get through quicker going stand-by as one.

Just want to make sure my young daughter is not by herself for anytime outside of the ride itself.

They won't have any trouble making the FP. You may already know this, but many times (not always) the park actually opens around 15 minutes early. So if you are there 30-35 minutes before parking opening, they may even be finished in time to ride them twice!

No doubt many of you are very experienced rope drop guests, but for those who haven't done this lately for the uber popular attractions like Toy Story, be aware that it can be a running of the bulls type situation. Not terrible but certainly different from any other experience. I did Toy Story at rope drop last Fall and they let us through the front gate a good 15 mins early, then held us at a rope deeper in the park before 9am. Then the crowd surges forward toward TS. Sometimes the crowd stays behind the CMs in the lead. Sometimes not. It is generally orderly but you are in very close quarters with other guests and it is a crowded, fast, tight surge. Heels can get nipped by strollers. Inevitably, some guests will try to push themselves past others. For safety's sake, definitely hold onto your child's hand. I found rope drop for Toy Story to be the worst. Soarin' was a close second but made even trickier because of the need to get down the escalator or stairs in the Land Pavilion with the crowd. Kili Safari at AK not as bad. Personally, if I had a mobility issue or was in charge of more than 1 small child, I'd likely pass on Toy Story at rope drop. Too tense & not a great way to start the day. Of course, everyone's mileage will vary but that was my experience.

They will definitely have plenty of time for both RnR and ToT before the end of the FP window of 10:30, if they're at HS at rope drop and head straight to ride.

We have done this many times. At rope drop, stay to the right side of the street. We usually follow cast members to RnR and ride. Then ride ToT. Most days we are off by 9:30 easily.

On a summer morning, we actually did RnR, ToT, TSMM (with FP), and Star Tours and walked out of the park at 10:10.

One thing to be aware of is that HS often lets people in early, before their posted opening time. So if the opening is scheduled for 9:00, you might be let in as early as 8:45. Factor that in to your schedule, so you aren't way behind the crowd!

As others have said. Get there early. I would recommend getting there at least 30 minutes before scheduled park opening. You should have no problem getting both of them in before your FP window. You may even be able to ride RnR twice if the line moves very quickly the first time through. We have ridden RnR 3 times in a row on several occasions at opening in a short amount of time.
