HS EMH Rope Drop in August

We have been to Disney the last 3 years and are familiar with rope drop and what it entails. That being said, we went before TSL last year. My plan this year was to rope drop TSL on an EMH morning Aug 18. We have kids 7, 6 and 18 months. The 2 bigs are thrill seekers. I was hoping to ride SDD (2x-1 w/rider swap), meet Jessie and Woody in between using the rider swap and then maybe TSMM before making our way to RnRC and ToT. What type of lines should we anticipate at RnRC and ToT by day 9:30-10am? The kids are just now tall enough for RnRC and we didn’t even do HS last trip as there just wasn’t enough to interest us. I would prefer to save my FP as we have hoppers and are planning to spend our evening in AK. Im ok with a 30 min wait at both of those otherwise, I would probably book FP at HS and take my chances with 4th+ at AK. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

When we were there for EMH in January we rode RNRC then TOT at rope drop. Both very minimal waits. When we got off TOT we looked to see about RNRC, but it was posted at around an hour (don't remember exactly). This was at 8:30. Not sure if it went up or down from there, or if it was even that long of a wait, but we were surprised how fast the wait time went up. TOT was posted at 20 minutes.

We rope dropped SDD during EMH in January. Get there very early or be prepared for long waits right at rope drop. Woody and Jessie will likely have decent lines already by the time you get off SDD. We were going to go straight to TSMM right after SDD but the line was already 45 minutes at 8:20ish so we saved it for later that day.

Thank you all for the recent experiences. I think I may need to come up with a different plan of attack!

I'd recommend you change your DHS day and do the EMM. It's expensive, but you will get everything done and eat breakfast. Our plan is to leave TSL at 8:40 to do TOT and RNR. After that we will hit ST and hopefully hop to another park around 10/11am.

Yep, I’m actually considering that but can’t quite bring myself to give Disney what it wants...which is to purchase more paid events. I might though! We have another evening planned there so we may hit what we can and then other rides a different night.

We are debating adding a DHS EMM (good info here) and also MK DAH while we are in there this August or go to Universal for one day with Express Pass. I’m torn with the thought of crazy lines vs a relatively peaceful morning/evening at WDW or Universal which the kids have not been to.

I figure it’s a two way street- Disney gets what they want ( my money) and I get what I want. There is no way I would ever deal with riding headliners at any park at rope drop, most especially HS. EMM not only gets that out of the way, it takes the pressure off the entire day.
