HRH vs RPR w/caveat

I hope that starting a new thread is the correct thing to do... I have basically the same question as the "HRH vs RPR" thread, but with one minor caveat.

We will be spending the first portion of our trip @ Disney's Polynesian Resort. I know that RPR is also a "Pacific South Seas" themed resort, so basically the same theming as the Poly. I am afraid I will spend the entirety of a stay @ RPR comparing the two instead of just enjoying the resort. I was going to book RPH over HRH just because of the $50/night price difference [not substantial, just more $ to spend in the parks ;)], but thinking that a "change of scenery"(staying @ HRH after Poly) may be a better option this trip.

Can anyone comment on whether or not staying @ Poly and RPH back-to-back is a valid concern?

(I sometimes hate that I am so detail oriented when planning :surfweb:, but I just want every trip to be the best it can be party:... does anyone else have this problem, or is it just me? Ha!)

i've been to both and they are not the same.

they have similarities but not the same type of hotel.

i think you will enjoy your stay at rph.
if you find that it doesn't meet up with your standards, you can have the front desk manager call and see if there is room for you to switch to hrh.
you can do this once you arrive at rph.

if you are there on a saturday night, try rph lual.
it is very different from the one at the Poly.

Now this ?: Without considering the caveat, would you still pick RP over HR with only a $50/night difference?

what are your priorities in a hotel?
is it the room size?
type of room?
close walk to a park?
ambiance of the hotel?
food selections?
how many in your party?

i have stayed at both hotels many times.
the hrh is the closest to the studios.
the rph is closest to city walk and ioa.

the boats run from all the hotels and you can use them, or walk to the park within 5-8 minutes depending on which hotel you choose.

if you stay onsite, you can use any of the 3 hotels pools at any time.
you can get towels from them by showing your room key.

i have over 20 stays at hrh and quite a bit at rph.

i prefer rph for a few reasons.
it is easier for me to book the king suite.
it is close to food venues at that hotel.
the orchid court lounge opens at 6:00 am for ala carte breakfast faire.
it has 3 onsite, 4 if you count Bula Bar(opens at 4:00 pm) for food.
(sushi bar in the lobby is open later in the day also.)

i like the lobby at rph best.

hrh has the Kitchen for dining and the Palm.
I have not done the Palm yet.
there is an ice cream, snack shop in the lower lobby outside of the Kitchen.
Both places are excellent.

there is a slide at this hotel pool.
rph does not have a slide but a separate pool for littles, besides the main pool.

both lobbies have concierge desk to help guests.
both pools have dive in movies, pool activities and character dining.
it is circular and a lot of open seating at anytime.

maybe if you checked out the UO site you can see what the hotels look like inside.
it will give you information about their services.

rph is a Loews hotel and has the Loews Youfirst program.

hrh is not a Loews hotel but has the All Access program.

both programs are free to join and have some perks involved.

personally, i would not switch my stay from rph to hrh for the $50/night difference.
i really appreciate the ambiance of rph and wouldn't want to give it up.

i'm sure others will post and give their thoughts to help you make a decision.

OP if I was questioning myself, I'd go w/HRH for a different vibe.

You can always try RP next time which, other than the HR's easy walk to parks, i do prefer over HRH.

but, if sky is the limit and you're looking for 'luxe, book the Portofino;)
