HRH - shortcut behind pool slide: open or not?

I've tried reading through the HRH thread, but the posts were from last year. Is the gate behind the pool slide still available for guests to use to walk through the parking lot to get to the parks? If not, what is the quickest way to walk to US from HRH? Thanks for any info.

When we were there at Easter Break, the lifeguard I befriended said it was *staff only* - but I went back, around etc... and it seemed to be open. It was dark, though- a little freakishly dark for me to be wandering around. Seemed to be *open* to me - but the walk, even if it is closed, is about 5 minutes - we only took the boat if it was at the dock when we walked out - did get a ride back on the rickshaws one night - they drive for tip only - I think we paid $10 for 2 bikes - it was a lot of fun - and a welcome break after walking around all day!
