We stayed at the HRH from Saturday 4/23-Wednesday 4/27, myself & my husband and three teenage boys 16,14 & 13. We had a fantastic time.
We arrived at Orlando airport at about 10:30 am. We flew Delta song and they lost my 13 year olds suitcase, so we were all upset, especially my youngest son. The driver from Quick time was great had us to the HRH by about 11:00 or so. We checked in, but our room was not ready yet. So the clerk took my cell phone number and said they would call us before 4:00 pm.
We received our hotel keys which is your FOTL passes. The luggage was held for us so we could go into the parks. I showed my membership card & picked the beer & nuts for hubby. We checked out the Kitchen for the breakfast buffet. The food was very good and so much of it. Then we were off into Universal. We took the water taxi - but then later on we would walk - grounds are beautiful w/trees & flowers. We did the Terminator & checked out a few stores and we were in the Horror Show (great show) about 1:30 or so and our room was ready. We were in room 6019 which is a deluxe room and it was very large & clean. The room is infront looking over the roof. But we didn't care, didn't spend too much time in room. We had plenty of room for the 5 of us and luggage. Our luggage was brought up & they called with our lost bag from Delta had just dropped it off at the hotel - so everybody was really happy.
We were off to a great start. I was nervous about the cleanliness and checkin problems that others had posted, but we were lucky no problems and the room was spotless. FOTL was great - kids went into parks by themselves & they went on the big rides 5-6 times. I don't think we waited more then 5-10 minutes for any ride during our stay. Hard Rock's pool is great kids had a good time. We ate at Margaritaville and Hard Rock a few times. Kids liked the beach club outside by the pools side - food was good. They also enjoyed ordering room service - a little pricey but food was good & hot. The Hotel staff were all very pleasant. The only complaint I have is that the parks closed at 7:00 pm and it was difficult keeping kids busy in the evening - they did go into the pool, we had late dinners & there is a decent arcade in CityWalks in a club called Decades. But it would have been better if parks were opened maybe until 8 or 9. Kids can't wait to go back and I would definately stay again at the HRC. We did check out the other hotels and I also liked the Royal Pacific - the Portafino looked a little to mellow for my gang. These boards were very helpful to me and I hope my report will help someone going to Hard Rock. Enjoy! :flower:

What a great trip report! Sounds like you and the family had a wonderful time. I wish the parks would stay open later certain times also. When we get there at the end of May they will be staying open till 9. Thats better. The deluxe rooms at HRH really are spacious, glad you were all comfortable! Was there anything going on in the evening at City Walk for the kids? Did Margaritaville have any outdoor entertainment?

Great report, thanks so much for sharing it with us! :flower:

In the evening the kids played different games and we checked out the stores. There was an arcade in Decades that they liked. There were performers doing a little show in citywalks. I don't believe there were any outside bands, some restaurants had performers after 9:00. I tried to get the kids to go to the movies, but they weren't interested in the movies - that is an option.
I have to say the Mummy ride was great - but too quick! It would be better if it was a little longer - don't miss it!

Decades is a new place since we were there in December. What can you tell me about it?

Decades is on the second level of citywalks - it has a bar and a gift shop on the top level - the themes are 60's, 70', 80's and down stairs was the arcade - I didn't go down stairs but kids said it was good. I believe they also served food but not sure.

most of Citywalk is one level, but then there is an upstairs with more restaurants, stores & the movie theater. Plenty of restaurants - check out the universal web site, they list the restaurants.

I believe you can also access the arcade from the ground floor aswell. Atleast I saw an arcade on the ground floor from what looked to be Decades (we ate there, good food)
