DH wants an HP Touchpad, seems like they are around $250 now on Ebay since they all sold out. I'm trying to talk him into an iPad instead. I have a Nook color that has never been used, but he insists that isn't what he wants.

Honestly as much as I like HPs I would not get a Touchpad. The operating system WebOS is from what I heard no longer supported by HP which means no updates.

I would look at other tablets.

We like the Touchpads becase they support Franklin Covey Plan Plus (used to be Ascend). We have used it for years as planners so we are committed.
If you doen't use FC Plan Pus go to something else.:confused3

have tried tried tigerdirect.com is selling them right now. I would not buy a OS that is not supported myself.

I would go with something like Kindle Fire or Nook tablet which comes out tomorrow.

My daughter just pirchased a Tosheba Thrive tablet after using a Ipad for about a month. The Ipad was nice, but for her purpose, it just didn't support things that she needs as a college student, like a USB port. She loves her new Thrive.

I have at touchpad and have gotten 2 updates so far from HP for it( last one 3.04 )was the last one a few weeks ago... it is not ipad but not 500.... depends on what you want to use it for...so that is up to you.... Oh we are not big gamers or app people. My husband has a kindle and he keeps taking my touchpad .

You need to be careful, your DH may have very specific plans for the Touchpad.

First, WebOS is still supported. There have been 2 updates since it was discontinued with a 3rd update already making the rounds adding additional functionality. The Touchpad hardware is discontinued, but the WebOS lives on. (For now)

Second, the Touchpad can now install Android. The equivalent Android tablets are selling for nearly the same cost as iPads. Being able to run WebOS and Android is a huge selling point for many as Android is the most popular mobile operating system.

Now getting all of this in a $99 package was an amazing deal. Getting it at $250? Maybe not such a great deal.

Yes sorry I should have said if you have $500 the ipad is the best, we will probably get one but the touchpad is not bad for the price and if it fits his purpose. but not the kindle
