HP Photosmart Premium printer question

We bought this printer back on Black Friday and LOVE it. However, I have been having a problem and looking to see if there is anyone else who owns this printer.

We realized that when the black ink was low or gone, the printer would go offline and it would not print and be "stuck" in the printer faxes que. Once we replaced the ink cartridge, all worked.

I have since replaced the ink cartridge and I am now getting all types of odd information in the printed materials. For example one was a job application, instead of a "normal" typed name, the last name is Qlufiis, first name Qooez Lupdol. First off my name is not Qlufiis Qooez Lupdol and all the characters are somewhat squished togehter--like almost an encrpyted file.

Did anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

Have you tried unplugging it and letting it sit for a few hours before plugging it in?

I can't get mine to accept the color cartridge. I put it in, and it say's to " replace color cartridge" and "take clear film off.
So I put a new cartridge in, and it keeps giving me the same message.
I now run it just as a FAX machine, and brought my old printer. This one, won't print in black, I get a greyish color.

So, I don't know if it is something with the properties of my printer, on my computer. But I tried everything.

Did you try doing a cleaning? Hit Setup >Tools > Clean Printhead
and see if that works. I may have a different model, but it should be similar.

I also bought one of those ink kits from ebay and have been so happy with it. With the HP ink I had to change it constantly. Especially with all of my school stuff. This ink has lasted a year so far.

We did put a new firewall in and that seemed to "interrupt" (for the lack of a better word) the printing.

I did update the drivers. This is a new printer-- bought Black Friday. We are installing and reinstalling the printer on the network.

This just happened to ours too!! We replaced the empty black and now it wont print. Ours keeps saying out of paper. I am going to let my one ds read this and maybe someone else has insight too. I dont want to touch anything until he gets home from college classes for the day.
