I am just about to put our deposit on our cruise for December 6th (Western)

We booked cabin 6504? The rep told our agent that it was a room with a window? It is a category 11 (supposed to be Standard Inside)? The book lists it on the outside of the ship but not sure exactly what that means?

Does it have any form of natural light in it? We don't suffer from sea sickness but have never been in the front of a ship! How bad is it really? Should be try to switch cabins? Also, it looks smaller than other category 11's?

Any help much appreciated!

That is a standard inside stateroom. No window. There are a couple of "inside" rooms that actually do have a porthole, but 6504 is not one of them. The ones the TA is probably talking about are the category 10 rooms on deck 5.

my3kids,

Thanks for the reply, what about the size? And what are the oblong things that I see to the outside of this?

And do you think we should change cabins? It is very far forward and the only reason we chose it was because of what the rep said!

What is a good cabin area? I tried for deck 5! With kids ages 7 &5 I thought it would be good if they fell asleep walking back to the cabin we wouldn't have far to walk/carry them from Oceaneer?

Have only cruised on a very small ship (NCL Majesty Bos. - Bermuda) so not sure where we should try for!

Does deck 7 go the same price as deck 6 & 5?

Thanks

Try doing a search on 6504, or changing the subject of this message to add the room number. Someone here must have stayed in that area!

I think people here would know if that room was a cat 11 with a window. It would be a great deal & wouldn't be a secret for long!

Being that far forward wouldn't be good for me, but I do suffer from minor motion sickness. Sickness aside, it doesn't seem terribly convenient.

I hope you get this figured out!

I just found this thread - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=237448&highlight=6504

Looks like they are on the outside, but no windows. Your TA was given bad info. :(

Also, if you look at the link below you can see deck 6. It's the deck above the life boats. Near the front of the ship the portholes stop and there is a solid curved projection. your cabin is behind that, and thus, no window.

What's interesting is that a DCL rep told the poster of the other thread the same thing, that this cabin had a porthole!

As far as the forward thing and sea sickness, we were in 7005 which was just as far forward. It's one deck up on the other side of the ship. It was fine. That was our first trip. Our second trip, we booked 7504, which is an ocean view (being one deck up must move it farther back. We got a free upgrade to 7538 which was a verandah room. I really didn't notice any more difference in the motion being forward from being back.

Enjoy!

If you are worried about the location, there are bunches of catetegory 11 rooms on the ship. I peeked in the forward ones on deck 5(that go long instead of deep) They looked very nice. Sounds like your agent picked that category 11 b/c she thought it had a porthole. Just look at the deck plans and make some of your own suggestions. There is a public deck at the back of deck 7. If you got an interior room there then you only have to go a very short distance to get outside to check weather, enjoy a sit on a deck, etc.
