How's this for management smarts!

Division A - meets all performance goals, stays under budget for expenses, exceeds shipment goals - NO BONUSES GIVEN EVER in last 7 years!

Division B - meets few goals, management told to improve or be fired, no improvement over last year, but no one fired!

Today its announced from home office that if division B can meet 75% of their minimum budget goals a % BONUS will be given to all upper level employees in the division. A bonus will be given for underachieving and coming close to your goals.


The SA I am asked what bonus system is going to be given in division A which overachieves. I was told since we meet our goals we obviously don't need incentive, no bonus but thanks for all the hard work!

Yeah baby the american way, perform poorly get bonus, perform well get nothing!

It's the "Peter Principle" at work...workers are promoted to the level of incompetence...then they become managers!

That's crazy. My GF is a school teacher and last year during reviews, her boss said he was going to give her a score of 2 (out of 5). She clearly should have earned at least a 4, which her boss acknowledged, but if he gave her a 2, she would be able to show improvement next year! How ridiculous is that?

OMG, sounds like where I work. The morons get huge raises and bonus' and the loyal and dedicated employees get treated like garbage.

I don't get it.

That is not only Dilbert-worthy but I am sure that it has actually happened to Alice.
