I've been planning this trip for months and have been keeping it a secret from my DD 8 and DS 5. I have figured out how I'm going to tell them-I'm telling them that we have to take my DM to the airport for another trip to England and when we get there I'm gonna ask them to pose for a pic so I can make sure the film is loaded properly in the camera-then I'm gonna say - say we're going to Disney World ! This way I'm certain to get the looks on their faces when they realize that we are going-so what do you think-not gonna work or awesome? I'm so excited!!!

What a great idea!!! They are going to be so shocked. What a fun parent you are!

You might even want to get it on video. That sounds like it would make it on americas funniest home videos!

Have fun on your trip!

You are a cool parent!!!

I agree - this should be on video. You know they will be jumping up & down and screaming.

Have a great trip!

What a great way to surprise your children... very clever. I am in the absolute begining stages of planning a surprise trip for my three boys in December. Many, many thoughts are going through my head!!! I was thinking about a treasure hunt type of game...

I'll keep you posted.

Have a fabulous time!

3/2001 Bal Harbour Resort 4 nts/ Swan for 2

 More of a question, really. How would you pack their clothing without them knowing something was going on?

I will be doing all of that while they are at school on Tuesday-we still haven't had real warm weather yet so they definately aren't going to miss their summer clothes. When they get off the bus everything will be in the trunk so they won't have a clue.

I hope it works, it sounds like the perfect plan :) What a fun thing to do :)

You only have 9 days left, how exciting!

How great!

I am also planning a surprise trip for my daughter. It will be our 12th trip together. We've never gone at Christmas as we always spend the holiday with our entire extended family. Since it is the last year she'll be living at home before sending her off to college, I figured we better do it now.

We'll be leaving on December 19th at 6 AM. I will have her bags all packed for her (since it will be winter, she'll never know I have touched her summer clothing). We have a a large wooden advent calendar that has numbered doors that you open. I usually hide small gifts like candy, lip gloss, etc in these doors. Our tradition is to open a door each night of advent together after dinner.

On the 18th, I plan to put a small figure of Mickey Mouse and her airline ticket in the door. She is going to freak out and it's going to be great!

We just pulled off a surprise trip over Easter. It was a total success with them not knowing until we were in front of the Dolphin unloading our bags.

Your plan sounds wonderful! I don't know how you can keep it a secret for so long. All I had to do was keep quiet 48 hrs. Definitely videotape it!

GReat Idea...I did the same thing 3 yrs ago with my DD's. At the time they were 6 and 8. I packed while they were at school. told their teachers that they were going and it was a surprise. I arranged to get their homework (we pulled them out of school to go). when they woke up the day of the trip I told them their dad had a business trip in florida and we had to drive him to the airport so they werent going to school that day. We drove to the airport ( 1 hour away) and when we got there I went to the front desk and got our 4 e-tickets. My older DD asked why 4 tickets. I told her " I told you we have to take dad to the airport in florida for his business trip". she said "were going on a plane". then while we were on the plane she said "mom, disney is in florida" and I said "what a coincidence". finally I asked my DD's "do you realize that we are really going to disney and dad does not have a business trip" and they said yes. I have pics of the looks on their faces. It is priceless. that was their first trip to disney. we are leaving in 10 days for their second trip. Im divorced now and their grandparents are coming with us this trip and we are all so very excited. especially grandma and grandpa. My mom hasnt been to WDW in 30 yrs (when I was 5) and my dad has never been there. I have decided that every time we go to wdw there will be a surprise for the kids. this year I have hired a stretch limo to pick us up at the airport and take us to POR. The kids dont know about that. I cant wait to see the looks on their faces when they see the Happy limo driver holding a sign with our name on it.

Your surprise sounds great!! The look on their faces will be priceless.

We're going in November and I'm putting together a package for my DD that will be sent from "Mickey" inviting her to Disney World. In the package will be an invitation from Mickey to come and celebrate her birthday with him in WDW, some Disney Dollars and a Guest of Honor Badge. I'll do this several days before we go. I am also sending a package ahead so that there's a "Welcome Package" waiting for her when she get there. We will be celebrating her birthday all week and I have some little surprises planned for her each day.

Have a great trip and I think your idea will be a big hit.

How can you keep it a secret? I tried to do the same thing one year. The secret lasted about a day. I have mixed feelings about the issue. My family gets so excited about planning a trip and anticipating the day we finally get to go that I just have to let them be involved. Anyway, I just know your children are going to be thrilled. I wish I could be there to see their reactions when they find out. Have a wonderful time!
