need 2 nights after our week at GF. Can u walk to DTD?
pool nice?

It is VERY close to DTD. Just across the street an easy walk.

As with several of the DTD hotels, it is several years old. They have redone the rooms, but with hotels of that age the bathrooms are smaller. (Personally I like it better then the GF, but I am in the minority! LOL!)
The grounds are beautiful, but the front desk is VERY slow.

I worked at the Wyndham central office for 4 years and I know a lot about this hotel. we stayed there 6 nights in May 2003. E-mail me if you would like any questions answered!

desk cant be slower than the one in jamaica

hows the pool

Pool was nice. We enjoyed it there for one night. They were very helpful when we needed connecting rooms. We have pics of the pool from the balcony. DH forgot to take the CD's To work, so if you still want to see it, I will post a pic in a couple of days! Does that make sense?

I am getting married at the Wyndham in APril. I'm hoping I made the right choice. I was on tripadvisors.com and there seems to be more bad reviews then good.

I would love to see pictures if anyone has been there recently.

Thanks!

Lori

Sent the blanks today with him. Should have all 800 pics back tonight! I think there are several of the WP, but the one he printed out for me is really nice! We enjoyed it, and there are buses that run to all the resorts just across the street. Our first evening we hopped the boat to POFQ for beignets, and took the bus home.

Lori,
At least a few of the "negative reviews" on tripadvisor were written by the same person. (There was a whole thread once where someone admitted that every few weeks they went into that site and posted another negative review and the real reason she was upset was not even the hotel's fault at least IMHO)

One other thing to remember about TripAdvisor. People tend to post negative reivews. I have stayed at this hotel several times. always had a good stay and never even considered posting on TA.

We call it the Wyndham Dungeon. If you can't afford to stay at the GF for the extra nights, stay at another Disney resort. Keep the magic alive, cuz Wyndham won't.

Hi Stacy! I had wondered when you would show up and no, I haven't been employed by the Wyndham.

For those of you new to this..... Stacy seems to think that since I have had several good stay at the hotel that I am in fact a shill for the Wyndam which is not true! I don't have the patience to work in the hotel industry. Having watched guests deamand the impossible, especially at Disney, I know that I would just take thier luggage and put them and it on the sidewalk! LOL! (No, you can't have the Yatch Club Presidential suite, for the price of the standard view at the All Stars! and some of the requests I have heard are just that strange.)

I worked for Wyndham (not the WP) for 4 years (now I work for Hyatt) but if it really was bad I would admit it. It was a great resort and we would go back this year and pay to stay there versus the Hyatt for free! But, unfortunately they are sold out for the days we are going. :(

The same goes for health web-sites. People seldomly make the effort to same something good! Only to complain!

We got the Wyndham from Hotwire at the last minute, and they were great. It was a last minute reservation and schedule change due to the storm coming in a couple of weeks ago. They found us two connecting rooms overlooking the pool and it wasn't a slow check-in process.

Still working on getting the pic. DH will be home this weekend, and he is the computer wiz!

I don't know if this is relevant, but we stayed there when it was the Buena Vista Palace (1996) and was a Disney property-even had character breakfasts. It was a nice hotel, rooms were clean, service was good. At the time, not sure if it is still there, but they had a rest. called Arther's 27 or something like that. The food was to die for! Still the best meal I have had anywhere. It overlooks Epcot so you can watch the fireworks while eating if you have a late ressie. There was also an Austrailian themed bar in the lower level, I think, that we had great fun in (first time I had ever seen the Macarana danced). Might be a bit of a let down from the GF, but better then the Super 8.

I worked for the Palace for 5 months a few years back. It's very nice. Across the street from DTD Marketplace. Kinda on the higher end. Crown level rooms are usually more expensive. They tend to have alot of convention traffic though.

I have posted several good reviews on the Disney Hotels on TA. I think if my review will help out a family then it's worth my time writing it. It's a shame that someone would abuse TA like that and make up bogus reviews. I wrote one on the Poly, one on the CR, and one the Best Western LBV in DTD. All were more than fair and honest. I'm the reviewer who comes from Waukegan, IL and tell me what you think. I would like to hear from you fellow DIS'ers. Thanks in advance!

I read on another type of message board that there have been known instances of hotel employees posting wonderful things about thier hotels and trashing the hotels near them on Trip Advisor. I have no idea if that really happens, but it does make you think.

Michelle,

I was just wondering if you had time to post your recent pics.

Thanks!

Lori

We have just won an auction on Ebay for 2 nights in an Island Resort Suite, 2 certificates for spa treatments and 2 dinners at Arthur's (up to $150). I have some questions for those that have been to the spa, dined at Arthur's and those that have worked there.
What location would request for the Island Resort Suite? Last time we stayed (in Nov.) on the 26th floor which was a great view of the fireworks. Are there suites on that floor? Should we request "recreation view" or Epcot fireworks view? Do these suites have little fridges? Larger balconies?
Has anyone received a spa treatment? After reading the website I am considering the "Hot Stones". My wife (who never goes to Orlando with the kids and I) is stoked about the spa but doesn't want to get stoned. She is leaning towards the "Combination" which includes a little Shiatsu and some Swedish. Any recommendations?
Arthur's? What do the 2 of us get that adds up to the $150? Or won't that be a problem? Good steak? Desserts? What time do we make ressies for to witness the fireworks? What is the dress code? Tie?
The Wyndham website has a Spa Special for the time we will be going for $350 a night and that is what the auction went off at for 2 nights, with Arthur's thrown in, so I'm happy with the cost.
The kids will just be happy with Mardi Gras at Universal!
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help. I agree with the others about the bad TA reviews. There is a good one on Betterbidding.com though.

Let me try to help others with some of the answers I've found.

The Tower has 30 VIP suites, some have kitchens, living and dining areas, and one to 5 bedrooms. There is a 36 room Crown Level Concierge floor too. There is an 18 room 26th floor called the Presidential Level that requires room key floor access on the elevator.
The Palace Island Resort Suites bldg. has another 100 one and two bedroom suites and 65 Evergreen rooms.
Arthur's have a prix fix menu with 4, 5 and 6 course meals that range from $49 to $60.
The stone treatment is $119 for 50 minutes and the combo treatment is $99.
I'll let ya'll know how it went upon return. :chat:
