hows the walk from hojo with 3 yr old ?

I am trying to get my family to agree to try Hojos on our next trip. My parents will be going - they are in decent shape - but do have small health problems that sometimes require them to go back to the room during the day. I also have young girls - 7 and 4. DSis thinks the walk from Hojos will be too far. DH has decreed there will be no stroller on the next trip (we'll see how that works out, never would have made it this past trip without the stroller!)

Does anyone know - is it possible to drive into the Shuttle area for Loading/Unloading? I seem to remember seeing cars in there, not just Shuttle Vans. I am thinking if someone is super worn out, I could drive them to/from the Shuttle Area, then make the walk myself. I rarely find anyone who claims that ART is the way to go (DSis used it one year when staying at the Annabella and won't do it again). :goodvibes

There is a 15 minute drop off/pick up lot just south of the shuttle entrance on Harbor. That is the closest any non-shuttle /taxi vehicle can get for pick-ups.

There was a few times I didn't feel well (I also have health problems), so DH ran down and got the car. I waited in the 15 minute area, and he picked us up there. That helped, but I found it better to stay right across the street, that way I don't have to wait.

Any body used the shuttle at HOJO? Is it worth it?

Not really. Its hard to predict the time it will come each morning. One day my family waited and waited, and just hated to give up since we had invested that time! Needless to say, we could have walked and been in the park. At night, you can get the shuttle but you have to literally drive right by the Hojo, then make several other stops, then the shuttle backtracks and drops you off at the Hojo on its way back to DL. I would not have done it but my fil was with us and he has mobility issues and we had no choice. Several times my husband and him shuttled back, the kids and I walked and we always got back sooner. So unless you just cannot make that walk, no, its not worth it. If you have health issues, I honestly think staying at one of the motels right at the crosswalk is the better option or renting a scooter from an offsite rental agency.

Mimi's is right across the street from the Howard Johnson's. We just found out there is one about 30 mins away.

I would take an umbrella stroller. We did when we went in May. The stroller proved to be a god send in the airport and at the parks.
