I am extremely curious as to how the changes on the Magic went. More specifically, I really want to know what The Stack is like. Unfortunately, I won't be cruising for a while, so I'm going to rely on you all. If any of you recent cruisers had teens that went to The Stack, how did they like it? Was it better, worse, or the same as Common Grounds?

Thanks in advance.

I'm a 16 year old girl, and I recently just went on my first cruise. I did how ever make friends that had been on previous disney cruises who said that common grounds was way better than the stack. None of us really enjoyed the stack..it always seemed to be full of stuck up teens or 12 year olds. And it was always like one big dance party..which all of us wern't really in to. From what I heard, common grounds used to be a cool place to just hang out, and you wouldnt have to listen to loud obnoxious rap music all day, which is all that happened in the stack.

As to the above post, 12 year olds aren't allowed in The Stack unless they are within 30 days of turning 13.DD (a veteran of 10 cruises on the Magic dating from the maiden voyage) celebrated her 13th birthday on the Magic. She absolutely loved The Stack. It is not as cozy as Common Grounds was, but the chairs can all be moved to make a dance floor. There are 2 good sized rooms, so different activities can be occuring at the same time.

The teen programming is limited, but some of the activities (like the Gotcha game) were a big hit. There is a list of activities that can be done at any time--the teens just have to ask the counsellor for the supplies. In general, she enjoyed the activities, and also enjoyed just hanging with the kids she met. My DD doesn't like rap/rock,etc. music (she's an accomplished classical musician), but didn't have any trouble with the music in The Stack. Her only "funny" comment was that the counsellors were "teen wanna-be"s.

Maybe we were lucky--since our cruises are during the school year, there are not a lot of school aged kids on board. There was a relatively small, young teen group on our cruise, but they all seemed to have a good time. DD has stayed in touch electronically with several.

We just went on the June 26 cruise and my son--I guess one of "the stuck up teens" in the Stack-- enjoyed the dancing every night and all the new friends he made. I think it was great because it kept some of the teens up on deck 10. I also know that 12 yr olds are not allowed in there. Just because you don't care for the same things as someone else-or you make different friends on a cruise doesn't mean those you aren't friendly with are stuck up. I found the teens he was with very nice. This is not the first post where you referred to them as stuck up. Would you want someone to call you stuck up because you refused to go to the stack? This is not a place for name calling.
I think the use of Common Grounds space for an adult area worked out well, but we didn't see it used as much as it could have been. Might be a great spot to have something for the 18-20 group.

Just went on 6/19 Western. There were a lot of teens on our cruise and later I heard there were over 200 on board. I was curious to see how oldest ds (16) would like the Stack since he had a blast in Common Ground on our last cruise two years ago. His opinion was that Common Ground was better in terms of just hanging out and chillin but he did enjoy the Stack. He made quite a few new friends, played lots of basketball and did enjoy some of the activities that went on. HTH

Thanks...you all have been so helpful so far.

I tried to post a reply to this, but accidentaly started a new thread. If you want to read the response its under "the real reason the stack bothered me"
