How's the Seafood on the Magic?

I like well prepared, high quality seafood -- crab, shrimp, scallops, lobster, and all sorts of different kinds of fish. I especially like imaginative dishes. I don't like seafood that's overcooked, and I avoid deep fried.

How good is the seafood on the Magic? Are there any "don't miss" (or "don't even bother") appetizers or entrees? How does the seafood at lunch compare to the seafood at dinner? Any other related advice for me? (March 23 will be my first cruise on DCL.)
 
I had the grilled salmon one night against the wishes of our server. I think he was upset because it was not what he recommended and kept telling me that I wouldn't like it. It was the best meal I had on board except for Palo's.
 
We love seafood and were definitely not disappointed with the Magic! I loved the herb encrusted sea bass, had scallops, escargot, shrimp, maple salmon, and of course, the lobster. All of it was delicious and prepared perfectly!!
 
That all sounds so YUMMY! :) I love sea bass and sea scallops. Haven't had sea bass in so long....6 days now :)
 

I agree - the sea bass was excellent! Coconut shrimp pretty good. The lobster was hit and miss in our family - mine was fine, DH and DS had overcooked and rubbery. I can imagine preparing lobster for a couple thousand people is a challenge.....
 
I love good quality seafood, and with one exception, I loved every seafood dish I had on the magic. The one exception was the pumpkin tuna (can't even remember which restaurant): I think I was "fished out" by this time, and I am not a big fan of pumpkin, so I really should not have ordered it. The waiter offered to bring me something else, but I just made do with dessert. I loved the sea bass at Lumieres, and the maple glazed salmon at AP. I also had the fettucine with seared sea scallops, and the scallop stir fry appetizer (small world menu) Our tablemate tried the seafood creole (Tropical night menu) and raved about it. It was his favorite meal all week. He also liked the Mediterranean Saefood stew, but not as much as the shrimp creole. I also really liked the crab and scallop fritters on the Tropical night, and the seared scallop appetizer of Master Chef series.
 
Thanks for all the replies! It's encouraging to read thar seafood fans like the seafood on the Disney Magic.

I've been clicking on the Disney Magic menus at Dave's http://www.dcltribute.com/ site. The entree descriptions sound great. And there are lots of appetizers that sound promising. (It makes me want to order multiple appetizers and forget about dessert.)

It's too bad that the Twin Lobster Tails and the Fettuccine with Seared Sea Scallops are both on the same night. (And, no, I don't think I'll ask for two entrees that night.)

Any other seafood advice?
 
Don't forget brunch at Palo. They have alaskan king crab claws already opened (so no fuss getting at the meat) and jumbo shrimp cocktail, already peeled. They also have smoked salmon and some other kind of smoked fish (trout I think) if you are into that.

There are also great jumbo shrimp (but you have to peel those yourself) at the embarkation buffet.

The sea bass was great but the lobster was disappointing. I was really excited about the seafood lunch buffet but ended up at Palo's for brunch that day. I like my crab legs hot but they were chilled at Palos' so they were not as yummy to me. I think I had some really good scallops too.
