How's the Princess Storybook Dinner?

I have made ressies for the Princess Storybook dinner at Restaurant Akershus at Epcot. I am a very picky eater. Can anybody tell me how the food was? I saw the menu and am just curious as to how good the food is. Thanks!

We were there for dinner last May and didn't really enjoy the food - DH's poached cod was not good at all, and my pasta was clumpy/sticky w/ dried-out tomato sauce. The desserts were very good - I loved the rice cream w/ strawberries & the ligonberry-streusel bar.

I had been really looking forward to trying one of EPCOT's WS restaurants, and I was so disappointed w/ Akershus. We went there for the princess-experience (for our DD), &, after we left, I really wished we had tried Le Cellier or one of the other WS restaurants that gets good reviews.

However, I think the menu has changed since then. I also think that we were there right after the new princess lunch & dinner meals began. So take everything I said w/ grain of salt. There are items on the menu now that weren't when we were there in May, and, after reading PrincessAurora's reviews, I'd definitely be willing to try it again.

Menu/food aside, the setting is lovely, and the character interaction is really good too.

my suggestion is to switch to the breakfast. My kids have never ever liked the food at dinner, but breakfast is ok. the only reason that we go is for the princess's.

I am a total foodie and I can honestly say that for us (and what we like) it is the best food is the best in WDW. If you dont like fish and salads it may not be for you but for my family who like healthy food and are adventurous it is simply the BEST!

I am a very picky eater, and wasn't expecting to like PSB dinner, but I booked it so DD could see Ariel in her gown. To my surprise, I enjoyed most of the food. I didn't try the more adventurous items like herring, but I liked the kotjkakker (which is probably spelled wrong), and tried some of DH's venison. My family enjoys the traditional buffets best, but we're glad we tried this.

We went in Sept and liked it so well that we ate there three times for dinner. It isn't a "normal" buffet though. Alot of fish, the pesto pasta with grilled chicken was awsome. My DD2 eats very little but was happy with the hot dog and corn they served her. The desserts were great. When we go back this September I have it planned as one of our meals.

The character interaction was the best we found also. All of the Princess's came around several times to our table and sat with our daughter. We took alot of good pictures. We saw Ariel in her gown, Cinderella, Aurora, Jasmine and peasant Belle each time. We never did get to see Snow White or Mulan but a friend who went in mid October said she did see Mulan.

I think as long as you go into it knowing the food is different and are willing to try something new I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

We ate there last week and enjoyed the food. You start out by having the cold salad buffet. I recommend having the Traditional Kjottkaker. It was really good.

My dd got pictures with Ariel, Jasmine, Belle and Mary Poppins. It was a lot of fun.

Can you please explain to me how this meal works and how it would be for a 2 year old? I wasn't planning on buying her food at this meal and thought we would be able to share. We have 2 adults, a 5 year old, and the 2 year old.

We are doing lunch and looking forward to it.

I have never done the dinner here, the menu does not appeal to me, plus I've read too many bad reviews about this meal. Plus all my Grandchildren are picky eaters. Have done the breakfast and it was good, not great but good. Character inter-action was very good.

I am not sure how it would work with you sharing. They have a cold buffet with your meal and might have to charge you extra for doing the cold buffet. But they probably wouldn't mind you sharing. If you can't afford to do the meal they have Mickey and most of the characters at the character greeting near Innoventions in Epcot. No charge there to meet and greet them.

The food in Norway is not bad, we just ate there.

Your best bet is too call Disney dining and ask them how the charges would work for the meal.

thanks indyyeti! We are on the dining plan, so 3 of us will be paid for. It's just difficult figuring out exactly what a 2 year old does and does not get charged!


Generally anything buffet or family style is no charge, but this is a little different.
