How's the last week of April?

We are trying to avoid crowds this year. We were hoping for the first week of May (my ds b-day is May 2nd). But I understand that's when Bat Day is going to be held, and I'd like to avoid the crowds!

Is that still considered prime spring break time? We could always switch to the second week in May, but I'd also like to avoid all the grad nights and people starting to get out of school. Hard to pick a time now days!

It's after prime Spring Break time, and I have gone the last week of April a couple times over the past few years (last year with the Ladies' Only Group).

I have found it very crowded because it is the last weekend for the Southern California 2-Fer promotion and you will find DCA more packed than you've ever seen it. Last year it was HOT. Like 105 degrees hot. It was truly miserable.

If you could push it to second week in May and go mid-week, I think you may have better luck.

I completely agree with everything DangerMouse said. Go for the second week in May.

(And yes, last year, the last week of April was packed! And HOT HOT HOT! It was VERY miserable.)

Hi,

We went the last week of April the 25th to May 4th. Yes it was HOT which I was told was not normal for them that time of year. We did not find the crowds that bad at all on the weekdays. It was crowded on the weekend but I hear it always is crowded there on weekends. We are going again the same time this year- April 23rd to May 4th.

Rats! But better to know now so I can plan for the second week of May, rather then go then and be surprised! LOL Hopefully it won't be hot, I know we went in early June last year and it was also pretty hot. Not as much June gloom like we are used to!

Does anyone know how Bat's day is going to work? Like will it just be that first weekend? Maybe we can come on Monday the 4th and miss all the crowds?

yesterday there was a post about socal 2fer and it said tickets are good through june something. I would think, based on the responses you have gotten, this will mean the park will not be nearly as crowded as last year.

We are going May 3-9. Bat's Day is May 1-3, so I'm hoping it doesn't spill over much into the next week. Also, Mothers day is the 10th, not sure if that's a big DL day...My expectation is that the weekday's shouldn't be as crowed and it will be warm enough to play in the pool if it is (vs a Jan/Feb visit)

I didn't think of Mother's Day too! Maybe it would be best then to go the 4th, and then hope those weekdays won't be too bad. I wouldn't think it would spill over much in to that next week. I'd really like to still go as close to ds b-day if possible that way too.

Too bad the 2nd is a Sat and Bats Day. Would be cool to get the free ticket or gift card. We had a trip planned for my daughters' 5th birthday end of this month but had to cancel. I was excited we be there on her actual b-day.
Maybe I'll take a 1 night trip down for my b-day with my husband (June 2nd) We have AP's and I have a SW Companion pass to fly free with my husband. The more I think about it that sounds like a great plan! The b-day gift card could go towards a fun dinner! Glad I talked myself into it

I have gone the last week in april and it wasn't overly crowded on weekdays either. Weekends the locals come out but that is every weekend. And it wasnt hot...just warm. I think that anything consistently above 85 degrees would be abnormal for that time of year. We are going again this year and not worried at all.

We were there the last week of April last year. It wasn't all busy, mainly just Saturday. It was probably the busiest Saturday I have ever seen in all my visits. And that just happened to be the day it was 106. LOL But we still loved it!! Going back the last week of April again this year!

Wow..... lots going the last week of April, us too!! We went same time in '06 and it was not crowded at all during the week. We walked on darn near every ride. I was joking that I wished the lines were longer so I'd have time to look at all the imagineering that is around in the lines! LOL
