we leave on sat for the world. can someone tell me how chef mickey's food is or should i try for another reservation? i have been hearing it's not worth it.

We have gone to CM for the past three visits and will not go this time :( The dinner was just horrible the last time we went. Breakfast is good..but dinner seems to have gone downhill for us :sad2:

to CM each trip for our last meal before departing. It's for the last visit with the characters and not the food. I find enough to eat, the Challah french toast is pretty good, but overall I think this is the weakest breakfast I have eaten at WDW. Yet we continue to go back.

We love Chef Mickeys for Breakfast.
We have never had bad service or food on any visit. When DD was little, we started this tradition we would eat,she would get the characters to sign her autograph book and pictures which was great so no standing in line.
We normally start our vacation with CM but this trip we will end our trip with CM breakfast. This time we will be doing 3 character breakfast meals.
Donald safari breakfast, Crystal palace, and Chef Mickeys.
Everyone has a opinion, I would just go and enjoy and make the decision for yourself.

I can not comment on dinner as we do other table service for evening meals.

Its gross...the only good thing about it is mickey...but you can see mickey other places, to me NOT worth it.It is hard to mess up breakfast food but they do..

we've been twice now and contrary to the above opinions we really enjoy it. we went in october and really enjoyed it. ds asked for it this last trip for his bday dinner. i've always found a good spread and do find myself guilty of eating the kids food! lol i'm not sure why it gets a bad rap, but that being said before last years trip we hadnt done the dining plans before so perhaps i missed out when food was better? the only complaint i hadd was from octobers trip was the ice cream soft serve dispenser didnt seem to be able to keep up with demand. it wasn'tmuch more than ice cream soup for us. this trip we ordered a custom cake so their desserts werent even tried by us.

We were here for dinner the second week of May & the food was great. The prime rib was cooked medium rare, there was many items to choose from. They had a garlic mac dish that was really good and a beef burgendy dish that was good as well. Enjoy.

We aren't crazy about the food at breakfast or dinner, but if I had to choose one, I'd choose breakfast.

When we go to Chef Mickey's we always try to remember that we're not going for the food. We're paying to see the characters interact with our kids during a meal.

For us, we've found Character interaction to be much better at breakfast vs dinner.

Is Chef Mickey's worth it?

If you are going to CM for an excellent meal, then no it's not worth it. The food is vile.

If you are going to CM to eat some food, and hang out with Mickey and pals in a fun atmosphere, then yes it is worth it.

We do CM with regularity, for the character interaction, so for us it is worth it.

The food is better at breakfast, because honestly it's really hard to screw up breakfast.

Breakfast wasn't even good for us. The best thing were the donuts and they oddly enough seemed like they were purchased form Krispy Kreme. We had 7am ressies and were among the first groups seated. The hot food such as eggs, bacon, etc. were already ice cold.

We loved it for supper in Sept. It and O'Hana for breakfast are the 2 meals we are doing again when we go this sept. My kids are 10,8 and 6 and they had fun. The food was good and everyone was able to find something they liked.

Breakfast or dinner?

Are you going for food or characters?

Either way actually the food is ehhh - better at breakfast, but still ehhh...

If you're going for great food? You might want to rethink it. If you want to see the characters give it a go.

just my .02

I've been for dinner. For kids seeing characters IMO it's a must.

I really enjoyed the food too. There is not a wide selection but I though what was there was good to great.

The only thing I noticed was the kids pizza. It was tough and and they didn't put it out really well sliced so it was hard for the kids to take and hard to slice apart with thier serving spatula.

I'm sure to go there again if I have kids with me.

Thanks everyone for answering this question. The only reason we where even going to go there was because of my young neices. i had heard the same thing as you guys are saying, and thats not the experience that we want, so i think i will be looking last minute for a new reservation.

I don't get the horrible reviews. Yeah, it's a buffet, but you know that going in to it. It wasn't my favorite place to eat, but it wasn't the worst either (thinking only of the food). There's always plenty to eat, and the character interaction is great. We always find the atmosphere to be fun and lively--full of Disney spirit. It's my girls fav. WDW restaurant, so we'll keep going back. Good luck w/ your decision and have fun on your trip.

I wouldn't dismiss it too quickly, CM is a blast my daughter LOVES it! Just because I think the food is gross, is not reason enough for us to skip it.

My DD is 13 years old and she still loves Chef Mickey's we've been taking her since she was 3. Last trip we did mostly signatures, we stayed at the Contemporary Resort and we could see Chef Mickey's, she asked to eat there several times. So this trip we made sure to include Chef Mickey.

Chef Mickeys is a special place don't pass it up because of the bad food, esp if young kids are involved.
