How's mid-October for crowds/weather?

We're thinking of traveling to WDW in October. We've never been during this month. We've been in September and found it usually too hot, and we were just there early December and found the weather fantastic. We're thinking of going October 16-24 - does anyone know of special events that may make the parks busier? Also, what's the weather normally like? We have two little boys (3 1/2 and 1 1/2 at the time) not in school yet, so we're flexible when we go. I had been planning on early November, but I'm nervous about Jersey week. Hoping AP rates come out for the month, b/c I know it's regular season. The second and third weeks we can't go b/c of family birthdays we can't get out of. Hoping to stay at POFQ or POR.

Thanks so much!

Not as humid or hot as September, but usually shorts weather (which I much prefer to colder). Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will be held on several nights in October, which is a blast, and I would strongly suggest you buy tickets and attend. The Food and Wine Festival will also be held during that time, and is another must-do.

Crowds are not bad, and usually discounts are available. October is probably my favorite time to visit!

That week should be almost capacity crowds, MNSSHP, food/wine fest, the golf classic and whatever events are going on at the sports center.

Weather is great that time of year.

Enjoy!

 We stayed at WDW for two days after our cruise on the Wonder and were actually there on Halloween day and night!pirate:

We had a great time! Weather was warm and perfect! Not too hot. Went to MGM on Thursday and there seemed to be a lot of people around, but we never really waited for anything we wanted to do. Then on Friday went to MK early and did all of Fantasyland and then it started getting busier, but we never really waited more than 10-15 min for any ride. Got fast pass for Splash Mountain cause it had a 30 min wait. That night we went back to the Halloween party and it was packed with people. Again we had no waits for rides and loved the party. Was able to watch both parades and the kids Trick or treated. Such a lovely night!::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo It was crowded, but we managed. I don't think I would want to go to the Halloween party again on Halloween night, but I would like to go on one of the other nights. The time you are going would be great for the party. It was lots of fun and I am glad we did it!

ENJOY! We may be back again too for a couple days if we book another fall cruise!:wave2:

I totally disagree about "almost capacity crowds" at that time We have been during that time the last two years and crowds were not bad at all. F&W Festival is extended this year, and attracts people to Epcot, which can handle them without too much problem. MNSSHP is offered lots of nights and spreads out the crowds, too. Golf classic must attract people to the golf courses, because they aren't in the parks!

I also disagree with the capacity crowds. We also have been there the past 2 years during that time period and the parks were not crowded at all! The only thing we encountered was that we wanted to stay at the Swan or Dolphin and it was fully booked for 1 night of the trip, so we wound up staying at POR, where we initially had a hard time getting an AP rate, but in the end was able to.
The crowds at the parks and the resort, however, were non-existent.
I love going in October and it has replaced our annual trip in April. The weather is fantastic, very warm (2002 was HOT!) but not like the summer months and no rain to speak of.

October is fantastic. We swam every day. The high temps were in the low to mid 80's. Mickey's Halloween party is a must do! It was one of our favorite things we've done at Disney ever!
