Howdy!

Welcome aboard. I am not a cop, but I was an Army officer for 27 years before retiring last November. My college roommate's father was an Inspector in the NYPD. I have many interesting stories of our college antics tormenting Big Al.

My dad was a cop in NYC for many years and he got me into camping. I met DH and got him into camping and then he became a cop, he works for St Pete Police.

I agree. There are a lot of cops in DH's department who camp. I think it's because of the stress factor. It's a high risk and high stress position and camping tends to bring stress down many levels. DH has almost 18 years under his belt so we are looking at retirement in 7 years and retiring in Florida. It's going to be an eye-opener for me. I've never lived outside of Alabama and I'm afraid I'll miss my mountains :sad1: . He's a Florida Cracker and he said he misses his flatlands  . We have some undeveloped land in Fruitland Park so we hope to start building in the next couple of years  (I'm thinking vacation home, he's thinking permanent residency :sad2: ).
