Thanks so much Heather. That does help. It is just strange that the person at Disney said that we couldn't park our car there.....

Looks like we will get a cart. They look like they would be fun and useful.

Thanks again!
Monique

Thanks for the Trip Report. It was awesome and the pictures were great. Very helpful.

Thanks!

Glad I could help, Monique! How weird that the Disney person said you can't park cars in front of the cabins!:confused3 She was confused, huh!?;)

Enjoy planning the rest of your trip!

We booked a cart now and I Think that honestly it will be one of the highlights of the trip for my six year old daughter!! :thumbsup2

Hey,
So about the campfire, it seems wise to pick up a bag of marshmallows from the store ahead of time. Is it a good idea to bring your own roasting sticks as well or just buy them from there.

Enjoy the day!

For us, it was easier purchasing the sticks from the snack bar since our normal at-home stick of choice has been wire hangers...and I didn't want to go all backwoods on everyone. :lmao:

I believe the sticks by themselves are $.35, marshmallows & stick $2, and smores kit $5.

You'll love FW, have a great trip! :goodvibes

Thanks for responding about the roasting sticks. I think we will just get them there as well.

Just reserved our golf cart for the 5 days that we will be there.

Can't wait to go!
:yay:

I think total price of 1 kit is around $8.95....my dad said it actually was enough for both nights. They were very glad that they bought it there and didn't bother bringing all the stuff required for smores.

Yea you might want to bring some insect repellent. We were there in May, DH's legs got eaten up by mosquitoes, DD and her BF not that much, but I got bit by something weird. No matter where I am the mosquitoes love me and in my life I have gotten bit by spiders or something that causes blister or they look like blisters. Anyway while we were there something bit me on my leg and caused a normal looking blister but it was real rubbery, lol, I was even shaving my legs one morning and accidently shaved over it, freaked out then I looked at it was still there, didn't bust at all. I wasn't worried about it, it did scare DD but I have allergic reactions to bee stings and mosquitoes so I just took some antihistamines and after three days I looked down and it had busted. So bring some repellent and have a great time cause even if you get bit just remember your at Disney World! Have a great time!

Sounds like a no-see-um bite. Mosquitos LOVE me, but never bothered me at the campground. However, the noseeums got me...and they were way worse at AKL. They resemble a small pimple blister that itches like nobody's business. My bro is a CM so he immediately knew what bit me.

This blistered up to the size of an eraser on a new pencil, do you think this could still have been a noseeum? It was a bad year around here this year, well really bad March and April, between my mom's health problems and all the tornadoes so I was determined not to let anything get me down so I just didn't worry about it but now I wonder what it could have been. :confused3

So sorry to hear about your mom's health and the tornadoes. Sounds like you've been through quite a lot lately. My DH went to AL after the tornadoes hit and he said it was so, so bad.

About that bite, did you only receive one? I had about 4-5 small-pimply bites mainly around my ankles, back of legs/knees, and around my bust area. Yep, dumb me forgot to put on bugspray! And I'm not sure why I received them in the weirdest areas of my body - I guess they like hiding? :confused3

Anyways, they were much bigger in size by the time I finished scratching the dickens out of them. They blistered, oozed, and crusted -gag- sorry for the glorious details. :faint:

:rotfl: I agree with your info 100%! Especially the part about making your stay more pleasant:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 My husband did pull up this site last night.... (click on the link) Golf Cart Rentals
I have no idea how convenient it would be or anything like that, but it does appear to be cheaper. He said that the next time we go to FW, he will at least check it out.

Does anyone have experience renting from these folks? I'd all but ruled out the cabins for our fall trip because we'd really want to have a 6 passenger cart for our stay and neither Disney nor Kenny/Tee Time have them. If this place rents to campers at Ft Wilderness the cabins might be back on my short list.

I've never heard of the business in the link (Cartland of Lakeland), but I called someone yesterday I read about over on the Camping Board. His name is Steve Senesi 407-568-2122 and his weekly rates are as follows:

4 seater carts for $250+tax
6 seater carts for $350+tax

However, it looks like Cartland of Lakeland may have the better $325 rate.
**Edit** You'll have to go up to the $425 Silver rate with the headlights required at FW, so Steve is cheaper.

Good morning to all FW Fans!!! Just a couple early morning pictures of FW to get your day started;)

No problem!;) It's such a great resort...I don't think it gets noticed like some of the others do....oh well....it will just be easier for me to get a reservation, right!
