Howard Johnson is $75 per night and Crowne Plaza is $105. I would be staying for 5 nights.

I'm not sure if this will help you, but I found discounts for the HOJO using www.mousesavers.com (there is a link on the site). I also was able to get the Crowne Plaza for $59.00/night through hotwire.com. If you are interested in using Hotwire, you may want to see this site: http://www.betterbidding.com/
This site helps people determine what hotel they are bidding based on the amenities listed.

Good luck with your decision :)

Can't compare as I haven't stayed at Crowne Plaza, but it would have had to have been amazing to have topped HoJo.

According to tripadvisor.com the top 3 hotels in the Anaheim area are Disney Grand California, the Candy Cane and HoJo. Given Candy Cane and HoJo are about a quarter the price of DGC they are pretty good value.

We stayed at the HoJo for 5 nights last December and it was superb. Big rooms, comfy beds, a heated pool, great staff, a great shop on site and a 10 minute walk to DL. There's no breakfast at HoJo, but a superb restaurant literally across the street, Mimi's, does great food.

Use the Mousesavers link and get a discount. Just make sure you request a room facing away from the highway.

I booked them through Mousesavers, based on the recommendation of that site. It was quiet, clean, and safe...and the kids loved the pool! The staff was wonderful. Based on my experience, they're a safe bet!

The mousesavers site didn't really have any deals for disneyland but it sure did for disneyworld.

So if I were to book through them, however, I'd get a discount for disneyland hotels?

Having stayed at both I would vote for HoJO's. The rooms are newer at Crowne plaza and their are restaurants right in the hotel parking lot (joe's and bucca di beppo I think) but you have to take a shuttle to DL. HoJo's has a better pool, the rooms are bigger, and the walk is easy to DL. Plus HoJo's is cheaper!

Look again! MouseSavers.com has discounts for both Disney World AND Disneyland. There is an entire section devoted to Disneyland deals on hotels, meals, tickets and more.

When staying at HoJos, has anyone else been bothered by the overhead skylight and the room being fully daylight early in the morning (by 6:30)? That was a problem, the only reason I would hesitate to stay there again.

You must have stayed in one of the rooms just off the main pool. None of the rooms I have stayed in have skylights. In fact, the room stayed so dark I could hardly believe it was dawn when the alarm went off. BTW, I prefer hojo's over all the area hotels (haven't stayed at GGC) with the exception of Disney Hotel.

This is just the information I was looking for. Thank you. :goodvibes
