We stayed at the one on Irlo Bronson several years ago, but it sounds like it hasn't changed. Same stuff with the phone - as I was a single mom at the time and had picked the motel to save money, I wasn't too happy about the fee. Since I was staying alone with a child and didn't have a cell phone with me, I didn't feel secure having it turned off.
That wasn't the worst. There were school groups there same time as we were. As a matter of fact, we had the only room at that end of the hotel that wasn't a school group. The kids were on all sides of us and above (we were on the 1st floor). The kids ran around shrieking 'til late. They banged on doors randomly, and phoned rooms randomly to see who was in what room - they assumed the whole hotel was full of their friends. No sign of the adults who should have been controlling behavior. After having the phone ring constantly, we finally took it off the hook about midnite. We complained, but the hotel refused to do anything or even tell me what room the chaperones were in, so I could complain directly. Hotel also refused to move us to another room.
Never again.
