How would you react if astronauts became inspiring to young people again?

This poster seems to think that engineering as a whole had lost it's attraction for everyone. Check out posting history. For example:

I thought this was familiar

OP, it’s never not been cool. So nothing would change. I’m thoroughly confused on your “frat boy” & “sorority girl” comment. I’m not sure what you’re understanding is of the Greek system, but many of them go on to live very successful lives. I think your letting your stereotypes cloud your judgment.

Isn't becoming an astronaut a lot of hard work? I do not really associate frat bros and sorority girls with working hard. Regardless of what they want to become.
Speaking from experience as a Sorority girl, we are hard working and very driven. Greek organizations require you to maintain a certain gpa. I personally have a sorority sister who is one of the engineeers at NASA that headed the Orion mission. As a side note most of our presidents have been Greek and all the Apollo 11 astronauts were Greek. So it is possible to have fun and work hard.

Not downplaying the academics of those who are Greek. But as a Fraternity member, (since 1976) I have never heard of a Greek organization that checked GPAs'. House bills, yes, GPA, no

When I joined my sorority there was and still is a minimum gpa you have to have and maintain. if you don’t you are on academic suspension and not allowed to participate in social functions till you raise your gpa the next semester. I googled to check and this still applies to most universities.

A lot could have changed in 45 years. I did check and it appears the University I went to now requires a 2.5 GPA and that you be a full time student to belong to a Fraternity or Sorority. I sure don't recall any GPA requirement, and nobody I know ever got kicked out. But my Fraternity was off campus, we owned our house, had our own staff (cook, kitchen help, and house mother) and the University only controlled our Charter. On campus Fraternities were owned by the University, and members paid the same housing rate as living in a dorm plus the social fee to the Fraternity/Sorority. Our house bills were hundreds of dollars per semester less. My Fraternity moved on campus long after I graduated, and that in large part is why it is now defunct. Our members, and independence from the University were big draws when we were off campus.
