How would you present the trip as b-day gift?

We are going back to the world in August...DS 3's 3rd trip.(he will be turning 4) He still talks about Dis nearly every day...he's as bad as his mommy! We decided to make the trip his birthday gift, even though it is 2 months before the trip. I have the dvd to give him. I am looking for other things you would do/have done to present the trip as his gift? I was thinking a new pair of crocs (bought last night for a great price on disneyshopping.com) and a few shirts to wear while there. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance!

How fun!! Here are some ideas:

* wrap up a helium filled Mickey balloon and attach a scroll from Mickey inviting him to visit! Maybe the box can magically appear on your front door step and he can find it.

* maybe you can put all his Mickey gear in a backpack or beach bag-- other items can include: ball cap, sunglasses, goggles, jibbitz, pins for trading, coins for the penny press, autograph book, disposable camera, beach towel, swim trunks, etc

* treasure hunt...every clue can reveal one of the items you have picked up(crocs, t-shirt, dvd, etc) and the last prize can be the invite from Mickey

Happy planning!!

I would give him several "Disney-themed" presents.
I don't think a 4yo will really understand that his gift is something that he'll be getting 2 months down the road.

I would also wrap them in Disney paper...maybe have a Disney-themed birthday party as well.
Have fun! It's fun planning something like a Disney-themed party!

I'm doing the exact same thing for DS who will also be turning 4 in May!!! I'm so excited I can't wait to tell him. He has been bugging for the last 6 months to go to Disney. I keep telling him we can't go until Mommy gets enough money together from selling on Ebay so he's been bringing me some of his things and tells me to sell them so we can have more money "to go to Dizney Wurld!" It's so cute!

He wants the new Mickey Skater Croclings so I thought I'd get him them and the Magic Kingdom Board Game along with some other Disney things that I just haven't totally thought of yet. I downloaded some of the Disney fonts and thought I would write him a letter from Mickey telling him we are going. His Bday is in May but we aren't going until Aug 30. His uncle, my DB is in Iraq and coming home Aug 10, I'm going to use that as a time reference so he understands that we will be going very soon after his uncle comes home. I'll also use calendars and make a ticker on here. Ooooh, almost forgot, I'm going to get him Disney Dollars too. We give him a weekly allowance for doing "chores" that he has of course been saving for Disney so I'm going to get him Disney Dollars that he can exchange for "his" money. I think he would get a kick out of having money that you can only use at Disney!

Good Luck and have fun!!!:wizard:

Our 2005 trip was actually a Christmas present for my DD. Her presents were all Disney related -- luggage, Disney w/Kids book, Disney games, Disney wrapping paper, Princess stuff, etc. Before she began opening, I told her that there was a theme to her presents this year, and she needed to guess what the "BIG" present was. I even put the tickets, itinerary, etc. into her luggage, along with her Disney w/Kids book. She had no idea and she was 9 at the time. When I finally told her, she was floored! :woohoo: I told her that we couldn't afford the trip by ourselves, so I had discussed the trip with Santa and, instead of him leaving her presents, he sent me the money, so I could buy everything. She fell for it, hook, line and sinker, and even said that Santa should leave Christmas up to me from then on because I was so much better at it! :rotfl: Wasn't sure if that was a compliment or not!

We're going to Disneyland for DS's 4th b'day in May, too. :)

But we're really open with him, so he's known for at least a month, when DH and I finalized the plans in our heads, and we talk about it almost every day. He knows that this month is papa's birthday, then we have a month off, then at the end of the next month, instead of a b'day party, we're going to Disneyland. :) He's busy eating all of his vegetables so he'll be "big for pirates ride". (This year he's been skittish about the POTC ride, but managed to finagle us into letting us see Curse of the Black Pearl, so he's now brave enough, but thinks he has to be bigger to go on it again)

We aren't a big surprise family; we just talk about things as they are planned, and it works well! I'll probably do a few fun things for him when we're there, but of course we've talked about them in front of him already. :) He can't have corn syrup or anything with corn syrup in the compound name (high fructose corn syrup) and their frostings for the little things they have has it in the ingredients. So if we do the Disneyland's Plaza Inn b'day celebration, we'll be paying $10 for each of us, and I'll bring in my OWN frosting made without the corn syrup, and probably his own little cake, too, to decorate. Maybe two of those sets, b/c DH can't have the stuff either (what will we DO with those other two cakes that we're paying for, lol). Fun things like that so he can celebrate when he normally wouldn't be able to participate b/c of the corn syrup issue. Those sorts of things will be his surprises. :)

Thanks for all of your ideas! I am lucky we haven't let it slip yet...we talk about it too much and I have been telling him he has to be 5 to go back. He will be so thrilled to find out! I've asked his aunts and uncles to give him Disney dollars instead of presents...he will have a lot to buy something special! Keep the ideas coming!
