How would you make this work?

We are staying 6 nights in November. We have the Basic DP set up. So, 6 points each for snack, QS and TS.

I'm not worried about lunches, but we do have CRT booked for one of the nights. We had figured it would be better to pay for that outright instead of using 2 dining points. Right? We figured, we'd use the additional TS point for a character breakfast the morning we check out.

However, we also love eating at Artist Point. That, too, is Signature Dining. If we were to keep that reservation, how could we work it out with 2 Signature Dining meals during our stay on the basic DP? Basically, 6 points allowed, but 7 booked (assuming we are paying for CRT). I hope this is not too confusing!

Does your group include 2 Disney Dining adults? If so, remember that your credits are pooled. If you are staying for 6 nights you have 12 TS credits.

You have 5 regular TS meals (including that final breakfast) and 2 Signatures. For one adult you use a credit for each of the 5 TS meals = 5 credits. For the other adult you do the same plus use 2 TS credits on one of the signatures. You'll have to check the menu to see whether the entree+beverage+dessert at AP is more or less than the CRT price. Anyhow, you've used 5 TS on adult1 plus 7 TS on adult2 = your 12 total TS.

This is totally interesting, yet I'm confused! LOL! Yes, dh is the other adult. So a total of 12 TS credits for our stay. So, here's what I have planned. Maybe if I write it, I can visualize the points better...

Mon: Via Napoli (2 points total b/c 2 adults)
Tues: AP currently booked (we could use the last 4 points here and forgo the morning character breakfast)
Wed: CRT (paying out of pocket)
Thurs: Tokyo Dining (2 points total)
Fri: La Hacienda (2 points total)
Sat: Tony's (2 points total)

That would equal to 12. I've been told it's better to pay outright for CRT instead of using 2 TS points. True? I suppose I need to figure out the cost of CRT vs. AP and see which is 'cheaper' if we're going to use 4 total points at one of the places and pay out of pocket at the other. Hmmm...interesting! I'm still trying to understand how this all works. LOL!

Sounds like you get to do more OOP math. Like the previous posting, you can pool your TS for any meal.

You are not bound to pay DDP credits for all meals.

So if a meals cost 2 TS for 2 people, you can pay the following ways:
1. Use DDP for 2 TS.
2. Use DDP for 1 TS and pay the other adult OOP.
3. Just pay all OOP and use the credits for another meal.

So paying CRT OOP is one option, but you might want to see how much the other restaurants prices are. Then you can see which one is the cheapest 2 TS meals to pay OOP.

Hope this make sense..Good luck!

Mon: Via Napoli (2 points total b/c 2 adults) 1 TS per person so 2 TS used today
Tues: AP currently booked (we could use the last 4 points here and forgo the morning character breakfast) One person pays oop (the one having the cheaper entree. And drinking water. The other person pays 2TS for their individual meal. Total used today 2 TS; cumulative for trip 4 TS
Wed: CRT (paying out of pocket) 0 TS used today; cumulative remains 4 TS used
Thurs: Tokyo Dining (2 points total) 1 per person so 2 TS used today, cumulative 6 TS used.
Fri: La Hacienda (2 points total) 1 TS per person for this meal so 2 TS used today, cumulative 8 TS used.
Sat: Tony's (2 points total) 1 TS per person for thos meal so 2 TS used today, cumulative 10 TS used.

Now you still have 2 TS left to use for that fancy breakfast Sunday morning before you leave to make your total 12 TS available to your group for the trip.

Yes, now you get to figure out which option is cheaper - one person paying oop at AP versus CRT. FWIW, I understand the math gets even more complex if there are Disney kids meals involved - for adults it is generally "cheaper" to pay oop for 1 Signature than for 2 regular TS meals, but may be the reverse for kids.

Mon: Via Napoli (2 points total b/c 2 adults)
Tues: Character breakfast (2pts)
AP currently booked (2pts / pay 1 adult oop)
Wed: CRT (paying out of pocket)
Thurs: Tokyo Dining (2 points total)
Fri: La Hacienda (2 points total)
Sat: Tony's (2 points total)

I would double check the CRT price- what meal if it is dinner which is like $60 that is still $30 per credit which is more then the cost of a Character Breakfast and probably more then Tonys.

I would also look at whether you are big dessert eaters, if not use 1 TS credit to get entree and dessert for once persona and the other person orders just and entree or even an app.

You can strech the ddp to have a really great trip- it is okay to go outside the box.

Good luck.
