Also could they eliminate all MK busses driving over the speed bumps in front of the Poly?
NOOOOOO. BAD idea to mess around with those
I was there in 2010 when Seven Seas Drive was being repaved, which included the speed humps being completely removed for the new asphalt to be laid... The speed limit is 25 along there because there's cast member crosswalks but people were doing 40+ until they finally got Orange County to sit there all day, and they got a lot of paying customers.
The crosswalk I used was at the entrance to the drop off/pick up lot that taxis share, so the taxi drivers are always good but I've been yelled at by other drivers, most memorably a towncar chauffeur who I took extra time pointing out the crosswalk sign with flashing lights that he was doing his best to ignore when he sped up immediately after clearing the traffic humps.
Having worked in monorails it's pretty safe to say there won't be any expansions to service in the foreseeable future. Although pre-stressed concrete beams would allow much greater distances between pylons, the foundation for each would still have to go down to bedrock because of how soft the swampy soil is, and that cost alone is over a million dollars per pylon.
That being said it would be much easier to run small light-rail trains on the surface to destinations like DHS, DAK, and any future parks as far as construction costs go, however with the hybrid buses I doubt that will ever happen either.
At this point everyone is hoping that when the Mark VI eventually trains wear out completely that they can afford to buy Mark VIII's and don't just tear down the beams.
