dd wants to do Harry Potter. dh will take her. ds and I will stay behind...
Do they go the middle of the trip? First day there? Last day there? Will they be there a whole day? Do they need 1 day/1 park tickets or something else?

How do I buy tickets for Disney with them going one day? 6 day hoppers for them and 7 days for ds and I? 7 day for all of us?

We will be staying at Shades of Green and they will drive over.

Please help this non-Disney newbie. thanks.

I'd say let them go in the middle of the trip....and yep - 1-park/1 day ticket will be enough - it is in Islands of Adventure - lots of other great rides and themed areas besides WWoHP - Hulk coaster/Spiderman/Jurassic Park area - so they could potentially stay most of the day (depending on crowds):thumbsup2

For your Disney tickets - I'd would buy the same amount for everybody - and then on the day that your DD and DH are gone to Harry - you and your DS could do something that doesn't require park entry - depending on his age - you could go to Disney Quest at DTD or maybe a guided fishing trip or lunch at DTD and boat rental or just hanging out at the hotel pool.....:cool2:

Have fun with planning!!! :woohoo:

thanks wise rabbit.
We have never done US/IoA so this is new territory for us, and me as planner esp.
Can we fit in a Disney park that night or will they be gone til after dinner?

Yep - it would be possible to go to a Disney park that same day - but you'd need to be sure of park hours in November (MK will close early certain days for MVMCP) for where you're going - :flower3: I think if they get to IoA early (like park opening) - they should be able to be back to you by 3:00-4:00 PM - if they don't want to linger.....OR again - maybe all of you could do dinner/shopping and/or a movie or something at DTD that evening instead of using an additional day of Disney ticket???

I know there are lots of decisons when it comes to planning a WDW vacation - you sound like you'll be well prepared :cheer2:

How old is DS? Will he really need a down day? And will he be sad the sister got to do something fun and he didn't? I would have them go on like day 5 after you have gone to all 4 parks and while they are at WWHP I would let DS pick what park he wabts to go to and do the things he wants to do at the park. I won't plan anything with DH and DD like ADRs cause if they are having fun they might not want to go.

Anoother thought is universal does have some characters and little kid rides so you could possible all go.

My sister and family just went and you can go back and forth between Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios with their one day pass-they bought pass at the gate there. I don't know how old your kids are but why not all go for the whole day? The only thing they found was they could not get into or move in the Harry Potter area and realized if they wanted to go there they should have gone first thing. We went 2 years ago and we really enjoyed both parks.

About Disney tickets: there's not much difference in price between 6 and 7 days or more so I would just get the same ticket for everyone.
Islands of Adventure (where the Harry Potter section is) has lots of other stuff too that your son might like: Dinosaurs, Superheroes, Dr. Suess etc or you could take him to Universal Studios and do Shrek, Simpsons, Men in Black etc.

This should be fine as we plan to go in December.

DS is 5, and not into Cat in the Hat so Suessland is a bust, and not very much into thrill rides, so I don't think IoA or US would do much for either of us

Pretty much dd wants to do HP and nothing else.

I'm thinking the same for everyone now too.

Thanks for all your advice!
Probably best bet sounds like going to DTD that night. The longer dh and dd play at IoA the more Legos it will cost them! :)
That day ds and I will probably resort hop and trade pins, hang out at the pool if it is nice, and maybe do the dreaded laundry just for fun if it is raining.
