we have 9 days and 1 partial starting 8/9, staying at POR, DD 15 and myself. We originally planned 3 days at MK, 2 and the partial day at Epcot, 2 at HS and 1 at AK (our least favorite) and one to use up our mini golf and Quest passes. This is our first trip onsite and our longest trip. So we're thinking we might take a break midday for once, not go all gonzo at the parks. Now that got me thinking, should we even bother with mini golf and Quest and just leisurely keep enjoying the parks? Maybe even sleep in. I read on here how some people spend 3 afternoons doing Epcot's nations. We haven't done that part of Epcot in years. DD doesn't really care for video games and it sounds like DTD is a mess. WWYD- parks or the day of Quest and mini golf?

If your DD is not a big video game fan, count yourself lucky and lose the DQ visit!! (unless you happen to be a video game fan....).
Miniature golf is pure torture in Orlando in August. Go with your original plan except for that day. Use it to lounge around and enjoy your resort. Head into Epcot in the evening to take in some countries and dinner if you get bored....

phew, I am not a fan of video games and I had a detached retina that couldn't be repaired so I can't see well with that eye so mini golf with me is pointless, lol. I think we'd be happier with a pool day and relaxing at Epcot.

Our teenage DDs love the countries in EPCOT - they could spend days there. They will spend hours in each country. They also love to eat different snacks or appetizers in each country. AK is our least favorite park too - so we too only give AK a day - sometimes only part of day. I would skip Disney Quest and golf. We also love to go visit the other resorts. They love the shop in the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, etc.

Have to agree with Lauren T. Why bother with DQ if you aren't big game fans. And mini golf during the day in August would be my idea of unbearable torture.

A 9 day trip allows ample time for mid day breaks at your resort as well as a non park day in the middle of your trip. On our non park days we like to sleep in, have a late breakfast or lunch at another resort, and indulge in a little time by the pool in the afternoon . By evening you may be ready for a bit of leisurely park touring, or you might feel like staying at the resort for the campfire and outdoor movie.

And, I'm just noticing that your in Albany! We're in Greenwich (Washington county), flying to WDW from Albany Int Arprt on the 17th. Looks like you'll be going just after we get there...

my former BF lived right behind the Saratoga Monument, not far from Greenwich. I love your fair!

We recently had a trip of similar duration as yours and I have three teen/20's daughters. We had park days nearly identical to your plan, minus the DQ and mini golf.

Our family has ZERO interest in Disney Quest. And, to us, mini golf is for when you have absolutely nothing else to do and so we will never waste precious Disney time on it.

However, my daughters very much enjoy the shops at DTD -there are a few with unique items, and we also enjoyed taking in a movie and dinner at the AMC Fork & Screen. Granted, you can see a movie any old time but this was a great way to give our aching feet a night off in the middle of the trip. And we kind of enjoyed the fork n screen experience. We don't have one near our home so it was a fun novelty experience. Food was decent and reasonably priced.

Another idea for you would be a water park. But I also agree that a low-key relaxing day by your resort pool would be very nice.

Enjoy your trip. It sounds wonderful.

I've never done Disney Quest... but to me, arcades aren't all that cool. We play computer games all the time w my son and they're way better and don't cost $1 each... Even things like Chuck-E-Cheese aren't all that exciting. So I wouldn't go if you are doing so "just to use up the coupons".

We had lots of fun at the mini-golf. It was a neat do-once sort of thing. Easily took a half-day, but it was relaxed, kind of out in the wilderness, and overally pretty cool.

With 9 days, you have the luxury to do half-days here and there and mix in something other than non-stop park time. So rather than take a whole day off, I'd do more half-days. That way you get FP+'s on your half days, and you also have more flexibility in case this or that day gets rained out.

I don't find the mini golf courses to be anything out of the ordinary, so I think it's a bit of a waste of time. And as a woman in my late 20s, I hated everything about Disney Quest. Even my fiance who's big into video games found it to be on the boring side. Never again.

When we go for trips as long as 9 days, we'll take a mid-day break and go back to the same park at night. This gives us time to relax, hit the pool, freshen up, etc. We usually do DTD at night on our AK day. We only spend 1 day at AK as well.

If you are able to maybe switch the DQ and Golf for a water park??
Do the water park late morning, go back to hotel chill a bit. Then get all prettied up and hit the countries at Epcot for dinner and store browsing.

With the new FP, if you are willing to take it easy ( no rope drop commando touring),sleep in.. swim, go to the parks later in the day use your FPs and then stay to close. Especially if MK has EMH the lines really die down near close..

DD is old enough to make it until the end.

Agree, mini gold in August would NOT be fun.

We've missed the last few Washington County Fairs because we've been in Disney!
