I heard Kaylee scream a while ago and went in to her room she had cut her foot so I took care of it and got her calmed down.
I asked her what happened and she said she cut it of the floor.I went to where she pointed and it was the joint where they patched the carpet a few weeks ago where the carpet meets the new pergo. There was nail sticking out

I called the installer and he siad " yeah thats normal just take a hammer and push it back down" EXCUSE ME??? This is normal???
This is my girls room! Why didnt someone tell me about this beforehand? So I went and pushed around at all the door joints and sure enough I found another.

How would you handle this?

He said that on thinner caropets its more noticeable... well why didnt someone mention this so I would be aware of it? Luckily she isnt hurt terribly but there is a decent sized gash in her foot.

How would you handle this?

BTW I ripped the carpet where this happened trying to figure out what went wrong. I know that is my fault, but I was desperate.

Carpeting is put down with carpet strips that have upward facing nails in them. If you have a thin or cheaper carpet, the tacks might be taller than the carpet is deep. Not much that can be done about that, but the installer should have gone around the room with a hammer and metal tamper to knock the nails down. I doubt you have any recourse other than to do that yourself now.

There's a threshold placed over the joint where my laminate floor meets the carpeting. It covers the seam and gives it a more finished look, as well as protects against any nails/tacks.

I'm surprised that your installer didn't put this in. It may be worth looking into.
