how would you book a WDW vaca if you only had a few days to do so?

DH & I have pretty much agreed. If our Nov 30th cruise gets cancelled we will still head down to WDW. But without 11mos to plan this vaca (which may be a chance in a lifetime) how would you plan with just a few days? Dont think I could get Chef Mickey's at this late date. And would I even be able to book a DVC resort?
Trying to find a positive solution in case our cruise is cancelled.

If I was on the bubble about going and wanted to stay in a DVC, I'd go ahead and call member services (if a member) or reservations if not. They can certainly tell you if there is room a the inn, which may help you with you decisions.

I've done a normal trip with as little as 2-3 week's notice before. Basically did it just like I would a normal trip.

I'd be very surprised if you could get DVC, but you might be able to use your points elsewhere onsite or just go without using DVC.

If your favorite dining areas are already booked (and it's always worth a try to check), there are still enough other options I'm sure you can find something that isn't booked.

I don't think you have any problems getting into restaurants. I have never made a PS beforehand and the only place I've had trouble getting into is Cindy's.

I would concur with Aahmom. You may have to wait or eat at off peak times to avoid a wait, but I am sure you will still be able to get to places like Chef Mickey's and Whipsering Canyon.

I also agree with aahmom and TLK. There are so many people who go to WDW who don't even know to book a PS and they go (may wait a bit) & do a character meal or whatever. Hope it works out for your cruise but if not, WDW will be a blast.

With regards to eating, try new places - not the old tried and true - who knows, you might come away with a new favorite place!

We've never had trouble getting into most restaurants without PS. As for DVC, you may have good luck with OKW. Give Member Services a call .....

I have often called from the parks on my cell for an impromptu PS, 30 minutes notice. Often they can get you in, no problem.

Also try guest services at DVC.

There's a virus afoot on the Magic and I think that IGTD is worried that DCL will cancel the cruise to disinfect the boat.
