how would u feel if while on a roller coster the harnes came undone at the begening of the ride. The resson that I am asking is becuse that is what happend to me.

A lot would depend on the ride. And could you please be specific, as to which roller coaster. If you don't want to name the coaster, was this at a Disney Park or somewhere else?

Yeah it was Dulling dargons on the red side, but the bazair thing was I thought I was just to small for the harnes. Untill recently my mom was telling everyone what happend and I relize it was not me it was them. And I have to say I hope I never expece the harnes unlocking again

Since this happened at Universal, I'm going to move it to our Universal board.

I'm confused. When did it come unlocked? And you did not notice it, but your mom told you it was unlocked?

What do you mean by beginning? Was it before you left the loading area?

I don't think it was ever locked properly and no I thought that I was just was not big enofe for the ride I was under weight when I went and that is why it did not lock properly

I think the harness was just big on you. They check every riders harness before you can leave the loading area. They even lock the harnesses on the empty seats. If the harness was not locked you would have fallen out.

So you went through the roller coaster with the restraint up over your head?

no i held it down the best i could btw i am @ a much healthyer weight now

If any restraints are not locked, it will show up on the computer and the train will not leave the station.

Even if everything failed, when you go down the first drop, the restraints will close and lock to their lowest possible position because of the G forces being applied.

Glad to hear you are healthier now.

Most likely, you just felt too small in the seat and there was nothing wrong with the ride.

Restraints on rides will not be tight on your body. You will have room to move with out being able to get out. This was probably what you were feeling especially since you were smaller.

Sounds like your restraint was between clicks, and loosened up to the click it was fully "locked into" once you started going (this has happened to me before). This doesn't mean that the level that the restraint was at was unsafe for riding. If the restraint wasn't locked down, there would have been all kinds of bells and whistles going off in the station indicating that there was a problem.

I'm sure you were perfectly safe, even though the restraint might have been a bit looser than you would have liked!

The harness locks when you pull it down. It sounds like the seatbelt-like latch wasn't fastened. The fastener is to make you feel secure but the actual harness that you pull down will not pop open. Although I am sure you were scared, you were not in any danger.

About three years ago I was riding The Incredible Hulk and my harness unlocked itself right before the launch. My seatbelt was still secured, so I was not too worried about it. Although, I did make sure to ask the two people on either side of me to help me hold it down for the rest of the ride just to be safe. I am not too big or too small it just popped up on its own.

Doesn't the seat belt latch act as a backup in the event the shoulder restraint comes unlocked? With the two paired together, it would seem almost impossible for anyone to fall out.

Technically it is just a backup but mostly it is to give the rider a feeling of security. Coasters that don't have the belt attachment make too many people nervous.

Not on a coaster but at the county fair the rainbow ride which is a platform full of seats with a bar that comes down from a vertical to a horizontal position. As we started going up slowly the bar never came down but luckily we were seated on the side of the platform and were able to yell at the attendant that the bar was not closed and he stopped the ride.I find it amazing that there wasn't a measure in place that prevents the ride from starting without the bars down, this was maybe 10 years ago so hopefully it's been added.
