How would u feel

About three years ago I was riding The Incredible Hulk and my harness unlocked itself right before the launch. My seatbelt was still secured, so I was not too worried about it. Although, I did make sure to ask the two people on either side of me to help me hold it down for the rest of the ride just to be safe. I am not too big or too small it just popped up on its own.

my mom did that for me she did everything she could to make sure I did nto fall out

I thought that rides wouldn't move if all harnesses weren't secured.
Hulk and Dueling Dragons have pull-down, over-the-shoulder bars. The ride will not launch until they are down and locked. There is a little seatbelt-like latch on the bottom of the pulldown harness that goes between the legs which is really not necessary for safety. If it unlatches, it's no big deal and doesn't affect the safety of the restraint. The harness bar is already latched.

no i held it down the best i could btw i am @ a much healthyer weight now

It may have seemed like you were holding it down, but you were not. DD puts out enough lateral and negative g forces that if the harness was truly unlocked, it would fly open and you would go sailing through the air regardless of how hard you were trying to hold yourself in.

The restraints can give a little and pop up to the next notch if they are not fully locked in. They can't open once you leave the station unless maintenance goes out and manually unlocks them.

If it were "really unlocked", you would not have been able to hold it down the entire ride. The force of gravity would have pulled it off of you when you looped upside down. I think it was just not properly latched but when you took off, it latched.. but was loose on you. I am not saying you are fibbing, but just saying that maybe you thought it wasn't locked. I know that has happened to me. It was very loose on me & I held it "down" now that I held it so it would not come off, but just held it down so it felt tighter on me..

If they aren't safely secured, the rides don't move.. unless there was a computer malfunction on every single back up safety precaution they have.. or you are watching "Final Destination" :goodvibes

Not on a coaster but at the county fair the rainbow ride which is a platform full of seats with a bar that comes down from a vertical to a horizontal position. As we started going up slowly the bar never came down but luckily we were seated on the side of the platform and were able to yell at the attendant that the bar was not closed and he stopped the ride.I find it amazing that there wasn't a measure in place that prevents the ride from starting without the bars down, this was maybe 10 years ago so hopefully it's been added.
County fairs never have the safety back ups that permanent theme/amusement parks have. That is why most of the ride malfunctions you hear about are on County or traveling fairs......

::yes:: I heard of more accidents at karny rides more so then major theme parks.I go to the county fair for the food, not the rides. They set them up overnight and gone to the next gig in under 6hrs.Safety is not there strong points no doubt. Now You take US,SW,BG and DW there not gonna let that ride leave till all is clear on there computers!!!

You realy think a billion dollar park is gonna risk that...

My experience on the Hulk was quite different. The harness came up during the actual ride but it was still buckled. All of you are right I was not able to "hold it down" the entire ride, but it was worth an attempt just to feel a bit safer. I know that people here will not believe it, but that does not change that it happened to me. As for it coming up before the ride began as in Tinkerbell's case, I agree that the ride probably would not begin if someone's harness was not clicked down, but it is possible that they unlatched the harnesses for everyone to let someone off then it had to pushed down again. I don't know there is a possibility.
