How would people in YOUR school react to this?

Hola! Okay, so today in health, we finished watching A Walk To Remember with Mandy Moore and Shane West, to help us "learn" about relationships. Great, great movie. So we had to fill out a question sheet today, and one of the controversial questions was: "Does anyone in your school get picked on? Are there many people who pick on others?" Now ironically, my entire class, leaving out my friends Isabelle and Esther, are the kind of people who would be in the "pick on other people" category. So they were half honest, lying that they do not pick on other people, but admitting that a girl in our grade, Jamie, is OVERLY picked on. Like, really badly. But the way they said it was like a way of life. Like it could never be changed, that's the way it is. So now I ask you the winning question: Does anyone get picked on in your school, and is it just natural? Does anyone do anything to change it, or do they just step on the fact that it's happening?

Sorry if this seemed like a vent, but I'm just curious. IMHO? Cliques and that junk are very stupid

There are people at my school who get picked on, but most of the time it's just jokingly. So I guess honestly if that question were asked, it wouldn't be true.

i go to a private school and there is only about 280 student in our school. there is ONE person that EVERYONE picks on. the only reason people pick on her or just dont talk to her/are mean to her is because she is the most annoying person in the WORLD. Not gunna lie, i was the first person to actually admitt that i didnt like her cuz she was so annoying. i try not to be mean, but its pretty hard. but other than that, yea people get picked on, but like jokingly, not seriously like that one girl. She is so annoying even the teachers hate her and pick on her. one of my dorm parents kicked her out of dorm study cuz she was so annoying...

Theres a person in my school, let's call him Joey. He gets picked on by kindergardners and Seniors. He gets picked on because he "smells." And another kid in my school, let's just call him Erik, gets picked on because he tattles and sreams and slaps people in the face. funny.

There is this guy, and he is picked on, by everyone. No one likes him. Why? Because he is mean to everyone. And when you are mean to everyone and you have no friends, everyone becomes the enemy. I'm not going to lie, yes I pick on him. But he is mean to me and (this is going to sound childish) but he starts it. I won't pick on alot of people, but yes, i'll pick on you if you are mean to me or my friends, and he is, so I do.

There is a kid in my english class that gets picked on for no good reason. I try to stand up for him, but when it is like 200 against two or three, yeah.

The only time I really pick on people is when they say something stupid or something like that. When they deserve to get yelled at, because they are a moron.

hes right, they may say they dont care but they really do. but in our case, the girl doesnt understand that we are making fun of her. its kind of sad actually, ecpecially when you make it completely obvious.

my school has 2500 people, so yeah, there's definatly some picking-on-people going on. But, actually, not that much. Yeah, we have our cliques and everything, but I think my school's semi decent in that aspect, since so many people are involved in so many cliques. There's only a handful of people in the 'popular' crowd, and the rest of us float around with numerous groups. Like me for example... I'm friends with everyone from the theatre geeks, to the band/guard geeks, to the smart nerds, to the jocks, to yes, some of the more popular people.
I've been in school with some of these people since kidnergarten, and i'm a senior now, so I think everyone got the pick-on-people thing out of their system in middle school. (ohh that wasnt pretty... lol middle schoolers in my town can be vicious!)

...does that make any sense to you guys? lol

yes, i would say yes! My brother gets picked on so much. i feel really bad for him. I get really mad at who ever gives him a hard time.!

There are a select few that do get picked on a lot. It's just because they are different and they don't fit into that cookie-cutter image of what people should look like. Sadly, two of those people who sit next to me in homeroom, are so used to it now. It's kinda funny because they have some decent comebacks to other people's jokes.

Wow. There are many people in my school, and a lot of us get picked on. Notice I said us.I am picked on so much. And I am not evene kidding, most of it results from my wearing something Mickey Mouse every day.

Ok..I will admit I have picked on people before, and I regret it.

The only time people at our school usually 'pick on' people its in a laughing matter. Like some kids name is Biskis and we call him Biskit boy
But he doesnt seem to mind..I regret ever picking on people so now I just try to be nice to everyone.

This thread really made me think, thanks for posting it.



ETA: I have never picked on anyone who is sped. It really annoys me....My brother is sped and when people tease them becuase they act different or look different that is just wrong. I have seen so many kids at my school been picked on because of that and I say hi to every one of them that I know to let them know that someone reconizes them...Picking on anyone is wrong but this especially makes me mad.

Some of my old friends, thought they were better than everybody. So they picked on the kids that were less fortunate. I made me so mad, I would stick up for them, but of course it didn't help. I really couldn't do much to stop it, so I stopped hanging out with them! HOW RUDE!

But of course, I think everybody has picked on at least one person, maybe just in a joke but it hurts! Yes I have but now i relize even tho I was joking around it probably hurt!
