What reactions would we see from governments and society if two tiny alien fleets suddenly warped into Earth orbit and had a space battle that left very few debris and then suddenly jumped again to some place else in space and between now and the year 2100 there was no more alien contact?
What kinds of reactions would we see?
Would it inspire humanity to come together?
Or would it lead to an even more intense space and arms race between "The West" vs a Chinese and Russian led alliance?
Would there be an intense effort to put permanently crewed military bases in Earth orbit was well as crewed military bases on the Moon, Mars, and asteroid belt?
I heard Sputnik shocked the American government into changing the US education system?

Would something like this do the same?
How would it affect the pop culture?
By the 2040s would there be more sci fi authors than in a timeline where this didn't happen since more youth were inspired by "The Event"?
Would we see Hollywood immediately starting to fund the production of more sci fi pop culture?
Really excited for these!

There would be those that would believe the spaceships were controlled by AI or were piloted by beings who were once were biological but at some point merged with machines.
Would it cause more funding for AI?
Would there be massive numbers of people excited to find that they were living in a universe where sci fi was a reality?
How many would be excited to find out there were vibrant alien civilizations out there and start an intense effort to joining a vibrant interstellar community?
And there would likely be conspiracy people who wouldn't believe it happened.
I am no sci fi author but I find this question very exciting.
