How Will Check-in Work?

I have been accepted to the DCP for Spring 2014. Since the check-in process has recently changed, how will it work the day of? I know that 10 days before check-in you will get a email for housing. However, how will the physical check-in day work. How long will check-in take? Do you go right to casting? Also, my mom is coming with me to Orlando. Do most parents come to check-in or do the stay at the hotel and wait until check-in is over to help move in?

Thanks! :)

My son checked in August 12. Met a friend at Vista at 7. Line started moving at 7:15. Through housing check-in by 7:45. Went straight to Casting. He was finished by 11:30 I think...maybe 12:30. I went back to hotel while he went through check-in. He had Housing meeting that night, was off Tuesday and Wed, Traditions on Thursday, and started training on Friday. Hope you have a great program. He is finished January 3, and I don't think he is looking forward to the end.

There was no parents there because it is just a long line that you wait in. The earlier you get there, the earlier you have traditions and other orientation meetings. I got to start work earlier than my other roommates because I got there earlier in the day. I had no family there during check in but others did, I had a nice dad help me carry my bags up to the third floor! Thanks to him!

Not necessarily true. With such a large number of people for each move in day, the schedules for Traditions, Orientation classes, and on-the-job training are created in advance of the actual check in. Now, some things, like when you go to casting, and when you have your housing meeting, those may be based on when you check in. But, the other stuff is mostly pre-determined.

That's not how it works at all. Your entire schedule is predetermined and has nothing to do with how early you check in. I was one of the first people in line for Fall 2012 and didn't have Traditions until that Friday. It all depends on how many people are arriving that day. People for SA and FA tend to have everything in two or three days, but for the August 12th group it took about a week.

As for the family thing, plenty of people have bring them. They don't check in with you but there's a spot for them to wait and ask questions and stuff.
