How/why do I trade points?

I already checked the rent/trade FAQ, and it says I can do it, but exactly how? We've never had trouble getting ressies at OKW before at 7 months, but since we want to stay there for Thanksgiving next year, and we own elsewhere (VWL), wouldn't this be the time to maybe trade points in order to get the 11 month window? Exactly how do I go about it? Thanks for any help.

Unless you want a GV, you probably won't need to trade points with an OKW owner - most likely, you'll find availability at 7 months.

If you do want a GV, or want to be certain of availability, you should offer a trade of your VWL points (or a reservation made using those points) in trade for OKW points (or a reservation made using those points) for the dates you want.

Just post on the Rent/Trade Board the numebr of points you want to trade and any details you can give. If you will only accept a transfer you should indicate that in your post.

I'd offer a reservation trade - it's likely to be the easiest to arrange without any transfer restrictions to worry about. You can also agree on cash to make up for any differences in the points needed for reservations at the two resorts.

I agree with Doc, unless you want a GV, it's not worth the hassle and risk of the trade. Just make your reservations day by day at the 7 month window. If you need a GV, you may still be better off just renting and then renting out your points. If you own at WDW, simply make a ressie at your home resort 11 months out. Since OKW will be less points, you may want to make it for at least one night less if you'll have to borrow points.
