Hi all! So I have the 40% pin (deluxe)...:wizard:

1. If I decide to add the dining plan, how long do I have until to add it? Can you add it upon check-in or does it have to be prior to arrival - how many days? Also, will they honor the 40% room discount on the original reservation?

2. What about adding park tickets?

Thanks in advance - I searched everywhere and didn't find anything.. :surfweb:

Hi! You have to add the tickets before you add the dining. Once you add tickets, you turn the room only res into a package, and a deposit of $200 is required. If you are inside the 45 days prior to travel window, full payment is required for the trip. You have to add dining at least a week before travel, so you cannot add it upon arrival.

I hope this helps!

Hi! Thank you so much for your help; I always see you're helpful posts on here, so thanks for helping me too!

I've already paid my room only deposits which was more than the $200 pkg deposit - does that mean my deposit is covered already?

Also, I'm trying to hold out for as long as I can to pay the balance (also saving for a wedding!) - So as long as I add the tickets & dining at least a week before arrival, I would just need to pay it all off during that call correct?
*Will I still have my deluxe room held for me at the 40% off price? - Are they just 'adding tickets & dining' to my existing hotel ressie?

Thanks again! You're very helpful! :wizard:

If I'm not mistaken, you do get to keep your 40% room discount, and still add the dining and tickets.

Disney likes you to do this, because then your room only reservation becomes a package. And Disney has stricter cancellation policies on their packages than on their room only ressies
.

Sounds good, thank you for your reply; very helpful
thanks!

I don't want to alarm you, but last year I changed my room only res into a pkg and got a little hesitation from the CM on the phone. Now, I had an AP rate for the room and therefore I didn't need to buy tickets. But by adding dining plan you are changing the room only res into a package even though you don't need tickets. So it maybe different from your situation.

This was about one month before we were set to arrive, I called to add dining plan. I was told that they had "no availability" for discounted rooms with a package. The discounted room I had at that time was a room only discount and there were no rooms for the package discount available. Even though I would be paying full price for the dining plan, still effectively the same room discount??

I was a little freaked out, I was counting on getting the DDP now. So I explained that I usually book with DVC and with them you just add the dining plan more than 48hrs prior to arrival and it's not a problem. She put me on hold and when she came back, I was able to add DDP to my existing res??:confused3

Don't really know why the hesitation at first, or why they changed their minds, but I would call Disney and confirm if and when you can change your room only res to a package. Just wouldn't want you to loose your discount if you want to make it into a package later on.

I would agree it may not be as simple as just adding a dining plan and tickets. You are going from a room only reservation to a WDTC package.
Availability is always at a set limit for any promotion.
And you will be cancelling your room only res. Do not cancel your room only res until you know you have what you want for your package.
Your room only deposit will be refunded, not transferred to your package res.
If you book a package within 45 days you will be paying the entire amount of your package.
You really are better off either sticking with what you have. Or, booking the package you want now and cancelling the room only. You would find out now if what you want to book is available or at the cost you want.

When converting a room only to a package, they will refund you any money you have on your room only reservation and require a new $200 deposit (if outside 45 days) or payment in full (if within 45 days). They will not transfer the money from the room only to the package. (we learned that one the hard way).
You can convert it to a package by adding the tickets only. They you can add the dining (i believe it is 3-4 days previous to check in) and that will need to be paid in full. You cannot add the dining when you check in.
HTH. :)

I had the room only discount for our trip on 1/3/10 and called about 5 days before our arrival to inquire about adding the dining plan. The CM said it was no problem to add it to our discounted room. She said I had up to 3 days prior to arrival to add it to our reservation. Nothing was mentioned about canceling and making a new reservation. It was just a matter of adding it to our current reservation.

Did you have tickets booked? You can add tickets and dining to a room only discount if you convert it to a package.
You cannot add dining to a room only reservation. The only way to add the dining plan is if you have a package booked.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that we are annual passholders, so we had the passholder room only discount. We did not need to add tickets to get the dining.
