How wet do you get on Splash Mountain?

I want to ride this on Feb. 14- but concerned about staying for Wishes with wet clothes. Is it just a little spray, or will we get soaked?

It all depends on where I sit :)

I weigh 235. If I am in front, the whole boat is getting soaked. If I am in back, there is a decent chance of not too much water. I know this from experimentation with the ride in California and in Florida over the last 13 years or so.

If you don't want to get as wet, put the lightest people up front.

:D

I've sat in the front before and I have gotten wet, but not soaked head to toe. My clothes dried within 15 minutes. If you sit in the back, you should be fine.

When we were there over New Years week I commented to my husband one night that it looked like less water was spraying up at night than during the day. There was a cm standing next to us who told us that they can set the water level according to temperature. When it's cooler out, there is less water at the bottom and more of a mist that you go through as opposed to water jets, mid day in July in August everything is "wide open" so you get wetter. :) The people we saw leaving that night were barely wet at all.

Also, if you sit on the right side of the log, you will be right next to a waterfall after you go over the big drop!! I always get that seat. And that's where I get the wettest. So, if you get the right side, squish over to the left as you round that corner and see the waterfall!!!

You may also want to bring something to sit on so your pants don't get wet. When we rode it last week, my mother and daughter sat in a row that only one person had sat in the trip before. If one of the seats is empty, it gets really wet, and the person who gets on next will have to sit in puddles. That happened to my daughter and we had to buy her a pair of sweatpants and a package of new panties because the backside of her jeans were soaked!!! My husband and I were in the front seat and our heads got really wet after the long drop. It took a while to dry off with the temps only in the 60's. (I also couldn't belive that almost every bathroom in the MK has those high powered jet hand dryers EXCEPT the bathrooms by Spash Mtn.! I was really hoping to be able to dry my hair a little!)

I rode for the first time in November, and the back of my denim shorts was damp for the rest of the day. Next time I'll wear a material that dries faster on Magic Kingdom day. ::yes::

There was also a big backup after we went over the drop, and we got stuck sitting right next to the waterfall for 2 minutes or so. Fortunately I was on the left side, but my brother got soaked. There were two little girls behind us splashing each other, so that got us wetter too. So how wet you get really depends on a lot of things, but you're not going to get soaked to the skin.

Well, sometime ride with me and I can ensure a soaking ;) we got so much water in the boat it was above our ankles. Annette and I went to the bathrooms afterwards and wrung out our shirts and shorts in the sinks.

BTW, unless you just love denim, I suggest wearing something more like a dry weave. I use rafting shorts and a ryder dry-weave shirt. Even soaked to the skin, I am dry(ish) 15 minutes or so later.

If you carry a backpack or bag bringing a couple of ponchos helps alot on those cool nights.

No matter where I sit, I get soaked while everyone else is just damp. It has become the family joke. But it is true, when the weather is cooler, the water level is lower than mid day in the summer.

When I rode in the front row, water sloshed onto my body and face at the bottom of the long drop. When I rode in the back I didn't really get water on me from the drop, but...near the beginning of the ride you go down a little drop and do a little u-turn--at the end of the turn the next group is going down the little drop and every time it created a big spray of water that rained down on us and got us wet--I learned to put up my bag or something plastic to prevent that spray of water from coming down on my head. So.. we were not soaked but it was more than a little spray!!!

I had the pleasure(?!) of sitting in the front seat on the right. I sloshed around the park the rest of the evening.

Don't know why, But, its seems that the colder it is, the wetter we get. We don't seem to get wet at all on warm sunny days:sunny:
