How wet do you get on Jurassic Park?

I don't particularly care to get wet. When we rode JP in CA, we barely got wet, but it was also December, so I'm wondering if the water was off. Do you get soaked or just mildly wet? TIA!

It honestly depends on where you sit, how heavy the boat is, and where the weight is distributed. I have ridden in the front row on a full boat (bad idea) and got completely drenched. I've also ridden in the back row on a full boat and gotten soaked too. Then again, I've ridden in the second row on a half empty boat and got a small splash, and also in the back row on a half empty boat and gotten just a splash as well. So try going further back for less of a chance to get wet.

Both times I've ridden, I've been far left near the back and got only a mild splash each time. YMMV.

I agree with you both and I have barely got wet in the last row to the far left :thumbsup2

A lot is up to chance. The front tends to be wetter, the back tends to be less wet. This is not 100% by any means, and you could get anywhere from a mild splash -> completely soaked.

I was middle ways in the boat very far left. My arms and face got kind of wet. I had a towel in my bag and dried off in about 5 minutes. I was wearing a jersey though so its known for being breathable.

I sat in the back row once and in the front row and got a mild splash each time. Both times, the boat was pretty light. The second time it was just me and my 6yo in the whole boat.

We`ve been drenched on the front and drenched on the back and been drenched in the middle. Other times not so much.

I sat in the 3rd row 3 times in a row last Oct and came off bone dry, fourth time...........utterly drenched as I was at the end on the left.

Pure luck really how dry you stay.

We were pretty drenched in the front when we rode in February. We have come off that ride pretty much completely dry and completely soaked.

:thumbsup2 This is the best answer.

I have been too many times and every time is unpredictable due to weight and where everyone is seated. But if you want to avoid as best as you can, then sit in the very back row.:)

There is a for sure fire way technique on not getting wet (or very little) on JP. Just duck at the last minute, put your head into the cushion that is in front of you. I always do this (unless I want to get wet) and at most just get a little splash on my back. I think if you do this a lot of the water may go behind you to splash the person behind. This typically works quite well. Although JP is typlcally not a get drenched type of ride, unless you happen to be in the particular sweet spot, and like others have said, it can vary due to chaos theory ;).

I wouldn't make the claim that any technique is "surefire." I've experienced everything from a mild sprinkle to being totally drenched on JP and sometimes it's just a matter of luck. If you ride, I would count on getting completely soaked. If you don't, you'll be pleasantly relieved. Better that than expecting NOT to get wet and then have the opposite happen.

I too as OP have only been on the one in CA. However anytime I am on a water ride and don't want to get wet I bring $1 disposable poncho from the Dollar Store with me. I put it on when we board and toss it when we are done. I might look a bit nutty, but it definately keeps me from being drenched and there are times I just don't want to get wet, but want to ride.

Have a wonderful trip. :goodvibes

It was odd. We watched as boats came down and splashed huge amounts of water on the 'soak zone', yet when we rode it we got just a tiny bit wet.

It seemed that the empty boats were sending up a bigger splash leading me to believe they have some sort of 'assistance' in controlling the splash size.
It was quite cold so that may have played into it.

However, you will get pretty wet on Rip Saw and drenched on Bilge Rat Rapids

Yes, but if you duck, only your back should get wet. Also I forgot to add to, put head in cushion and put hands over back of head. Works for me, after I did this, I don't think I've ever gotten really wet. But it is a crap shoot sometimes, true enough.

I've always road in near about the same spot (not planned) which is the far left and in the middle. I've never gotten soaked. I've gotten slightly wet and it's dried in like 5 minutes. However, my bff who has road with me and never gotten wet just went back and she told our other friends that went that you don't get wet and well they got soaked. Haha, so like others have said I guess it just all depends.

It's a super fun ride though!

FWIW, JP in CA is a lot wetter than FL. I rode last summer, in the back, and got SOAKED. All my friends were mad at me for that one. Whoops. :rolleyes1

I am trying to go bagless, so that means no ponchos. I am thinking I better get all of my HP pictures first, just in case my hair gets messed up on the ride!

Have only ridden once. Sat in the middle last row. Picked last row based on what I read on Dis before going. We got SOAKED. :upsidedow

Buy the 2/$1 ones at the Dollar Store. They're basically glorified plastic wrap, have a hood and you can carry them in your pocket and toss them when you're done. Or as you said get your pictures first, if you can get into
WWOHP first.
