how well does a city mini gt work for a larger child?

If anyone has input, about how well a city mini gt works with a 55lb child I would appreciate it. My umbrella stroller is just too hard to push at that weight, I am not sure it is worth bringing this time. Think of renting, but I will need one out of the parks too. Thanks.

Im interested to hear about this too! I have 2 big kids each about 55/65 pounds. But I need to bring a stroller, so I decided to rent a double city mini GT from magic strollers.
Last year I rented a double plastic one from Disney. It was ok, but very hard to steer.

Plus, it is much cheaper to rent from this company than to pay the 37$ daily for a double from Disney.

From what I understand, they are very easy to fold/unfold, and steer nicely.

We rented a city mini when my son was 7and weighed 41 lbs and was 48inches....it 'worked' but that trip made our decision to start uses special needs strollers. It 'worked' but he wasn't comfortable.

Thanks for your advice. My 6 yo is 50 pounds and 46 inches. I know he will pop in and out of it. I like having the second seat if my 9 yo, small for her age just needs to sit for a minute. she has low muscle tone, and doing a lot of walking in the heat will be a lot to ask of her. I hope they are ok in this stroller. They are both under 65 pounds and under 47 inches. which is the limit per child.

I am debating between the special needs stroller and the city mini gt, which is cheaper. My daughter will walk but also tires easily, she is getting too big for me to carry her long distances.

I've been wondering also because I have a 50lb/47" child and a 37lb/41" child. I expect them to walk a good bit on our trip this fall but I know they'll tire out and I can't carry either of them very far if they fall asleep on the way out of a park. We have city mini double but I'm considering renting a GT so we don't have to pack ours. I am worried that my oldest won't fit well.

Suggestion: if you live near a store where they have the strollers out to try, I think it would be worth it to try your kiddo out in the GT to help make your decision. I know some Babies R Us stores do this and specialty retailers like Galt often do.

I was thinking the same thing and plan to do that this week, If i can figure it out I will post a pic of my gigantic kids in this stroller!!! LOL

Very smart to try out the strollers if you have the opportunity.

The citi mini GT handles great & after you catch the hang of it, very easy to fold/unfold.

For us...DD7 45lbs/50", DS5 40lbs/47", DD4, we have been bringing down our Bob single jogger & renting the citi mini GT Double for our last 4 visits over 2 years.

We own a citi mini double...but with the hard plastic wheels, it wouldn't be a fun time pushing that around while touring the parks. The GT rubber wheels makes it much easier.

Now for size...at times DD7 & DS5 are a bit squished, especially late night/reclined/trying to sleep, but it works. (My wife just told me to bring a small pillow or small blanket (snuggy-sized) -- helps while reclined.)

A different thought would be the Bob double jogger...but we find the kids have more space in the citi mini GT over the BOB (maybe just us...but another thought.)

It was fine on our recent disney trip when he was sick and couldn't make the whole day walking, so we wore the baby and let DS sit in the stroller for the last hour. But he couldn't stretch out and kind of curled up on his side and pulled the sunshade down over him.

Bottom line is I am up against a wall. I NEED a stroller, but just conflicted, to sure if the WDW are bigger?? But they are awful hard plastic, no recline, more expensive, no storage, but my kids may fiut in it better????

How old are they? We rented from WDW when my youngest were 4, 4, and 6, mainly as a easy way to push them from point A to point B. I really didn't care if they were comfy, just wanted something easy for them to hop in and out of.

They weren't that big, though. One is about to turn 14, and is only about 75 pounds (same as the twins).
