How was this possible and should I write a letter?

I did not know the policy was to change the sheets every 4 days. It seems that it should be more frequent and if I missed a sign in the room stating so I appologize.

I think there's a small standing card in the room, usually on the nightstand or desk, explaining their policy regarding sheets. It says that they only change the sheets every four days, and to contact housekeeping if you want daily linen changes. It's not a huge card though, so it could be easily missed.

Since you had the kids sleep on top of the comforter, did you fold the comforter back so housekeeping could see the bad sheet? It may be that they saw the bed made up, and didn't undo it until it was due to be changed again. If it had been me, I would have pulled the sheet completely off and left it on the floor, to indicate it needed to be replaced. Actually, I probably would have called for clean ones right away, but I understand about tired kids.

In this case, I would probably write a letter, not a nasty one, but explaining the situation. I'm sure the sheet had been through the laundry, and was probably safe to sleep on/under, but it wasn't aesthetically pleasing and should have been withdrawn from service.

As a true germaphobe I am so sorry you did not immediately call up a manager to show them the sheets and poo in the bathroom. GROSS! These things are unacceptable and should have required immediate assistance.

Remember too that the top comforters are usually toxic with germs (there have been many news reports on this) because they don't get washed very often.

As for retaliation from the cleaning crew, well, I would lock up my toothbrushes and zip up my bags in such a way that I would know if they were tampered with before I would let them get away with soiled sheets and human waste. Remember too that it could be a different one the next day who would not even know you complained.

I am sooooooooooo sorry about your stay, I am headed there with five people in september and I will be on alert. FYI, I pull off the comforters immediately upon check in and inspect the sheets for cleanliness. I had one horrifying experience at a Hyatt once (someone used the sheet I had just slept in for a tissue:eek: ) and I did not see it till the next morning. I almost had to have therapy to get over that. So now, any problems get fixed right away. I am nut;)

We just returned from POR. We booked and paid for a room for 5. water view. When we got there to check in, I asked if they were able to meet any of our requests. I figured we would get AB section because we had 5: 1st floor (medical reasons for DH)
When she looked at our reservation, the CM said "oops we have you booked in a room for 4 in the mansions." "We will give you a "free" roll away."
(still trying to figure out how that would be considered free when you pay for 5 on the website.)
I was disapointed about the no trundle, but she explained that the hotel was completely sold out. They gave us a room in bldg 95 which she said was a great location and it truly was.
(housekeeping was horrible, and yes we tipped everyday. Now I am unsure why. There was mold on the shower, I caught the maid putting dirty sheets on our bed etc.but I was too scared to move rooms.) Should I send a letter about that?

Also my second question for you seasoned dis people is: If we wanted to try a deluxe next time: say at WL. Can you book for 4 and pay for a roll away for the 5th? When you try to book online it says we have too many in our party. All our kids are over 3yrs. How was this possible?:confused3

Your insight is greatly appreciated.
Sure, you should write a letter but its always best to complain while your there. Dirty sheets on the bed...that's unacceptable.

. . . We were also a grand gathering and tried to stay kind of close by to each other . . .

1) Ah.
2) This might be the problem.
3) CM's try to keep Grand Gatherings together, whenever possible.
4) Thus, your requests would have been superseded by the Grand Gathering.
5) I have seen this a lot.
6) You try to do a favor to the Grand Gathering group.

7) As for the dirty sheets.
8) If they were yours, then I see nothing wrong.

The first time my husband and I went to Disney (he was my boyfriend at the time) was in 2004 and we stayed at POFQ - we got to the hotel and our room was not ready which was fine, we went to the park- got back at 11 pm and I went to the bathroom and there was public hair behind the bathroom door NASTY and it was a lot! My first thought was we are moving - then I thought no I am tired the mousekeeping just missed and they will get it tomorrow - they did not get it the next day, so I called and complained - nothing was done, I called again, nothing , then went to the front desk and complained - nothing...so the next day (i belive 2 days before we checked out) I went to the desk to ask another question and told them again how many times I had called and said if I went back to my room and it was still there, they would not want to be the one on the other side of the counter when I came back! Needless to say it cleaned up when I returned to my room that night. I did write a letter and they gave me 1 or 2 free nights at Disney! They took it off my charge-

The stains were not ours as it was our first night there. A long day of travel driving for two days straight with my kids (DH flew in---LUCKY!) and we were tired. I like pp allisonswonderland thought ok if I pull these off the bed they will get it tomorrow.

I don't like confrontation and I like to let most things slide. Things I can fix for myself without complaining I usually do. One of the families we were with complained about everything start to finish of the trip to the point it was embarrasing, and it really turned me off of saying anything.

I saw a dateline and when we first get to a hotel I check all ends of the bed for signs of bed bugs. (Now that was a scary dateline show to watch for sure!) That is when I found the sheets.

Yes I do believe it was the grand gathering thing and let me say again that the room location made up for the fact that we were 5 in a room for 4, (praises go out to the reservation desk CM). When I asked if anyone would write a letter, it was not to slam any worker, or to complain about disney, but to let them know of a few things kindly, so that the next family that stays there has an even more magical time! I wondered if they took disney took people's suggestions seriously or if they didn't really care. You never know.

We really want to book another trip because we had a great time despite any room issues. That is why I was asking about WL or deluxe that might let us pay for the roll away. It is hard with a large family, but curious about DVC

I always put our toothbrushes in the safe. Sorry, I'm funny about stuff like that and I would write a letter.

You're welcome and I hope you had a really good vacation otherwise.:)

I too would write the letter. 100% Disney thanks for the idea about the toothbrushes. Think I'll add my hairbrush, comb and my daily meds next time. They're OTC, but still better safe than sorry. ;)

Yeah, we put our meds in there as well, along with our car keys and extra credit cards...I only carry one in the park. I also leave our cell phones in there most of the time. My kids store their PSPs, Gameboys, and iPods in there as well.

wow,
I am being so flamed on another thread. People calling me a fool and being very mean. Is this the way these boards are supposed to be? I really didn't want to give as much detail as I have, nor did I want to be verbally (is that what you say on a board?) or textually attacked.

I think what happens is this. Threads will take on a life of their own. Depending on who posts in a particular thread, you will see positive or negative feedback. From reading this thread, you can see people have been, for the most part, very encouraging to you. These message boards have 1000's and 1000's of members and it's really just one big dysfunctional family. Come to this thread for comfort and try and avoid the other thread, you'll learn that some people can't really value other peoples' opinions.

If people experience problems at a WDW resort, they should immediately notify the resort management. If the problem isn't resolved by resort management while you are there, then write a letter to Disney.

A lot of folks don't do either, and just whine and complain on this board. That can upset other WDW lovers, and lead to being "flamed".

I'm sorry you feel you have been attacked. But the best way to resolve problems of this nature are to ensure they are brought to the attention of hotel management, while you are on your vacation.

I hope your next trip to WDW will be as magaical as mine always are!

I only have one question- and I'm not trying to be a pain or cause trouble here. However if you witnessed the housekeeper putting dirty sheets on your bed- why on earth would you NOT complain to the resort management immediately? Why complain about it now after it's all done with instead of complaining when Disney could've actually done something about it? I just don't understand.

I can understand that you were disappointed. I would be too! Also having a dirty moldy room with sheets that are dirty isn't very Disney!

That being said, you should have said something right there and then. What would you accomplish writing a letter now? No one can go look at the room, I'm sure it's clean now and they wont give you a refund or a discount now. There is nothing that can be done at this point. If you weren't happy maybe they could have done something (change your room, clean it, send a supervisor down) something, but now it's too late. I wouldn't waist my time writing a letter, but that is just me. Sorry.

So Please, Please, Please, if you are unhappy with something at Disney, say something right away and let them have a chance to fix it.

If someone is having a problem AT the resort THAT is the time to take it up with the management, housekeeping management or general management depending on the problem, you don't go through the vacation with things wrong then go home and write a letter.

When in doubt, always, always, ALWAYS write a letter!!! I had a less than stellar stay at the YC with my parents (two different rooms) and I let them know. I am will be enjoying a free vacation in November!!!:woohoo: I love WDW. Be NICE in your email and tell them your complaint and what you expect.

By "what you expect" are you saying that in your letter you stated you were looking for a free stay? I'm assuming you weren't quite that blunt, but I'm wondering what you said, and how they ended up offering you the freebie.
